Loved the first 2 series - definitely 5 stars each. This third series was a big disappointment. The new village copper was a bore and the main love story was not developed but merely dropped into the land of cliche.
Will have great difficulty in making another series believable

You will either love it or hate it,I loved it got every episode ever made,one to get a glass of wine on a wet sunday afternoon and escape for a while.

Silent Witness is a long-running British television thriller series made by the BBC's in-house Drama Serials production department. As it is created by Nigel McCrery,a former murder squad detective, and based on real forensic pathologist from Sheffield one gets an impressive ring of reality.

The series is often criticised for showing the pathologist actively investigating the crime which is not a pathologist duty. I feel that is an unfair criticism as this is not a documentary on the work of pathologists but a "crime novel". Who would critise Agatha Christie for having Miss Marple investigating crimes when usually old spinster do not do that?

The most recent adaption on this dvd is a decade old and the other two are twenty years old and personally i would wait for the fantastic new bbc jane eyre dvd which comes out in february.

With a bit of luck, they would have, without ruining things.

Series 1. Well nigh perfect. Eccentric supporting characters usually have me reaching for the shotgun, but here they are quite over the top, generally annoying, and just all round brilliant.

Even the Receptionist character change in Series 2 was carried off well. How many other series could manage that? Katherine Parkinson should have had an impossible task in taking Lucy Punch's part, after she had done an Alan Rickman, yet she managed it without any seeming effort - just complementing the role, if anything, while ruling, like she always does.

Silent Witness : Complete BBC Series 3

Series 3 of the classic BBC series stars Amanda Burton as Dr Sam Ryan a pathologist. This is the Dutch import but is in English Language with removable subtitles. This series contains the following episodes An Academic Exercise, Fallen Idol, Devided Loyalties and Brothers In Arms. I won't go into plot details and ruin any story lines for you - needless to say the stories are up to the usual high standard of Silent Witness. Each story is presented over two episodes as they were originally shown and are spread over 4 disks.

Knowing how long BBC 2Entertain take to release Silent Witness dvds over here (how long did we have to wait for series 2 to come out?) it is probably going to be a while before we see series 3 over here. So if you are a fan of Silent ... Read More:

This program is brilliant acting, brilliant cast, brilliant writing. I thank you so much everyone involved in the making of this fine program. You can't get drama with humor, suspense, romance and acting talent in America. I should know. I've grown here watching manure for T.V. I love the writers and their use of the English language in the U.K. Can anyone recommend more shows as beautifully entertaining as Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes and Kingdom starring Stephen Fry? I'd appreciate it. I found Hamish Macbeth series 1 through 3 fun as well. Monarch of the Glen is like Hamish in that there's good writing and new predicaments each episode. They kept me glued to the screen. The best actors are British.

As they start to die mysteriously, they find evidence that the Ouija board used may have summoned a Djinn through it.
