Sometimes... just sometimes... you find yourself watching a film for purely superficial reasons. Such is the case with this one, Honey, which I am ashamed to say I saw because I heard it featured Jessica Alba in a variety of small, tight, and small and tight outfits. Also, she gyrates quite a bit. Phew... what was I talking about? Oh yes, Honey, which is a film about a sassy young thing (Alba) who dances and tries to help some underprivileged kids... with dancing. That's it, really.
Speaking as a guy who's a bit too old and unhip for this kind of thing, I didn't enjoy Honey very much. It's all very ham-fisted and cliched, the dialogue had me cringing in quite a few places, and Alba (bless her) continues to be a terrible actress. ... Read More:

There's an air of sweetness about this movie, despite the grim subject matter (touches on physical and inappropriate abuse of children, and the former is sometimes quite graphic, so be warned) and it's very difficult to feel pessimistic when watching it. Perhaps it's because of the light humor ("Hungry?" "I could eat."), or perhaps it's the innate sweetness and innocence of Derek Luke, who played Antwone. Probably it's a combination of both.
This is not to say that there aren't some heartwrenching moments, of course. There were scenes where I found myself wanting to reach through the TV screen and give this poor kid a hug. But the overall feel of the movie is one of triumph: Antwone Fisher was an angry, violent young man, yet he overcame ... Read More:

This is an intelligent and unusual supernatural thriller. Set in pre-Katrina New Orleans and the Mississippi Delta (there is an excellent use of its locations), it stars Kate Hudson as a caregiver who is given the job of nursing the invalid husband (John Hurt, who as a recent stroke victim, doesn't speak a word in the whole film) of Gena Rowlands, who live in an creepy old house in a plantation. Soon it becomes clear that the Hurt character knows something terrible that he is unable to say. This is only the beginning of a very creepy, unsettling thriller. There is a very intelligent final twist, that holds up on second viewing (many viewers, I suspect, will not get the twist on first viewing). I don't remember seeing such twist in a movie before, but in its ... Read More:

I feel i have just wasted 2 hours of my life.
The film was slow to start and stayed slow throughout. This film follows a similar format to the the film crash, The only difference is that when the film comes to an end and the multiple stories are connected you feel it just wasnt worth the wait. The acting was ok and you can't blame them for an uneventful story.
this film tried to be cool and deep, but failed due to the lack of story.

"The Hunting Party" starts with a stylish wallop, indicating that this is going to be a visually aggressive media satire about journalism and the political climate of a nation in turmoil. The rest of the film never quite lives up to these opening five minutes. The title card at the beginning claims that even the most ridiculous parts of the story are true, yet something tells me everything has been exaggerated for dramatic effect. This is still Hollywood after all. "The Hunting Party" is an enjoyable enough romp but it never truly says anything new about what we already know regarding the media, nor does it make a particularly profound point about the situation in Bosnia at that time. It never really settles on what it wants to be; a satirical comedy, an insightful drama, ... Read More:
