this was a great film. For some reason i'd got it in my head that this film and Wimbledon were similar - how wrong i was. For while Wimbledon is simply a lighthearted chick flick with not a lot to it Match Point is clever, thrilling and erotic with a great many twists and turns that really kept me on my seat the entire duration. Meyers and Johansson bounce well off each other and the chemistry between the two is pretty realistic. All in all a great way to spend a couple of hours and you'll be surprised and amazed by the end.

There's really nothing new about this story as it uses ideas from plenty of other horror stories of something whittling down a group of people isolated from help, and the characters have been drawn straight from central casting, particularly the company psycho and the rod up his bum officer though there's also religious guy, dying guy, doing me duty sergeant, hard bitten sniper guy and others you'll recognise from many another war film.

There's little in the way of special effects, but what there is works well enough though most of the tension comes from atmosphere.

I cannot speak for the accuracy of the history, for that see the previous reviews, but what is clearly evident that they don't say is that this film presents some of the cheapest TV production values of recent years you are likely to see.

There are badly fitting costumes, poorly choreographed fight scenes (e.g. Paris fighting Menelaus with swords, they miss their cue, hesitate, fumble and look lost for improvisation until they resume the choreography again - it would have been better to re-shoot the scene). I had to rewind this part a couple of times as I couldn't believe they'd allowed it to get past the cutting room floor. Sadly, there are several very noticeable 'fumbles' in this very cheap looking movie.

Very Annie Mary is funny, touching, and is scary in places only because there are characters in the film that are so true to life it's uncanny. If you have ever had any connections with the South Wales Valleys, take a look at this and be entertained. The cast names read like a welsh 'Who's Who' and have been listed in previous reviews, but look out for Joanna Page (Gavin & Stacey) as Lil Bethan Bevan and Ruth Jones (G&S) who has a bit part of a woman buying bread! I bought sweets as a child in the same shop used by Hob & Nob, and the choir in the film sang at my wedding. A truly precious film.

The BBC's 2002 version of Arthur Conan Doyle's oft-imitated The Lost World is better than most (not saying much considering the low budgets and abysmal special effects of most versions over the past half century) but it still takes plenty of liberties with the source material. Bob Hoskins' irritable Professor Challenger and James Fox's Professor Summerlee are faithful enough, but once again a new female character has been written into the story for purely demographic reasons in the form of Elaine Cassidy's daughter of Peter Falk's missionary, though this does at least allow the script some contentious discussion of Creationism vs. Darwinism to help stake its claim to a higher intellectual plateau than its cheap-and-cheerful rivals. Anyone who's in love with Breakfast at Tiffany's will simply love this movie which is at the same time a tribute and a light parody of the 1961 classic.
The story relates the twists and turns of love lives (absolutely separate!) of a struggling gay writer, a girl who dreams about true love and a group of their usually equally twisted friends. Their attempts at finding the one and only can be quite hilarious (Murphy's character Jacks is blind to the advances of Paolo who she thinks is gay and she goes as far as to get him on a blind date with Rhys' character) but the film manages to present them in a way which is both true and touching. A perfect light entertainment - don't miss it!

this is one of the best films ive ever seen. for a low budget film it delivers big time. to understand this film fully you need to have taken drugs in your past. this is as close to reality as a film can get. the music is quality. i really hope they bring this out on blu ray. there is only one bad review about this film online out of many good ones. from my point of view he has not got a clue what he is talking about.
