Since 2001 Seagal has been quite happy to let his film career crash and burn while sings the blues and does all his strange little things in his personal life (have you ever tasted his wine or his energy drink?). But there was a time in the 90s when his name guaranteed you an hour and a half of broken bones, severed limbs, bad guys in agonizing pain and a showdown with a head villain who stands no chance against the awesome hurricane force that is Steven Seagal.
I never really like the first Under Siege [Blu-ray]. I found it to be too low key and slow and after enjoying such brain-free fare as Marked for Death and Hard to Kill in my youth I had come to expect a tougher movie than the what we were given (though the tyrannical BBFC ... Read More:

Where were you on September 11th, 2001? A little over three years ago, the world stood still as people from across the world witnessed one of the bloodiest and most horrific attacks on American soil by a foreign power. Images of the airplanes slamming into the World Trade Center towers, survivors trapped inside jumping to the ground below, flames rising from the wreckage of the Pentagon, and brave police and fire department workers searching the piles of debris for the remnants of their fallen comrades are ones that will forever be engraved in the minds of the courageous men and women of this beautiful country. And as the nation enters into the public debate of who is the better man to lead the United States in this tumultuous time in our history, one ... Read More:
This is an above average Seagal film, that's entertaining enough, and Ja Rule was surprisingly decent!. I love prison films, so i was excited about seeing this one, and i happen to be a huge Seagal fan, and i wasn't disappointed i got what i expected above average entertainment, plus Steven Seagal is simply amazing in this!. Basically this is mindless entertainment and i loved it, and all the characters were very cool, plus the ending will put a big grin on your face!. the character development was above average, and some of the fight scenes were really cool, plus Seagal and Ja Rule had good chemistry together. Morris Chestnut gives a good performance as the main villain, and it had a couple of shocking moments, plus the finale was good. ... Read More:

A fast moving, gripping monster flick. The script is predictable, but the acting and special effects are very good indeed. I don't think I have seen Johnny Messner before but he is a personable character and I shall look into his other offerings. The rest of the cast were also unknown to me, but I love seeing new talent and none of these young people disappointed.
There are loads of white water and thrills.
Well worth a viewing.

The Cave has all the makings of a typical 'moderately' budgeted movie; a non-star cast (of which they are made up of many backgrounds), poor use of CGI, and predictable plot and script. That's just about it!
Like any other film of this calibre, the direction is totally un-organised and is un-evenly balanced. Not enough emphasis is put on the characters relationships/personalities, and the goal to which the story is targeted is never apparent at the start! All you get a brief summary of who's who, where they are going, and a poor excuse of why. In this, some Chinese fella wants to film a group of young people (all nutured in the beauty of Science/Geology, combined with physical looks of course...) in a mysterious cave underwater that is believed to have held many ... Caper movies have been well served in the 90's and to some extent into the noughties. Movies like Ocean's Eleven, The Grifters, Heist and many others, have raised the bar for the con artist on the silver screen. `Confidence' aims high, and just scrapes over the bar, but without much room to spare.
The plot - well, it would spoil it to tell.. but even if I wanted to it would be difficult, as maze-like as it is. Suffice to say, when a con turns out to have inadvertently trodden on a ganglord's toes (Dustin Hoffman), the con-artist (Ed Burns) agrees to pull a huge job to get the money back and keep everyone happy... but who can anyone trust, and what is as it seems?
Great performances abound - the talent on display here is formidable through to the most minor of characters. ... Read More:
