Chris Morris has an eye for the sensitive underbelly of society and makes comedy that occasionally crosses the line into documentary because its humour cuts so close to the truth. This time his target is the Hoxton, Clerkenwell, Liverpool Street set.
Nathan Barley is just that series, working on media and digital projects I found it quite surreal as the characters and the antics so closely reminded me of people I knew. The performances are great and the humour slightly less barbed than some of Chris Morris' earlier projects. But make no mistake Nathan Barley is the Ali G of the creative classes.

I watched this after reading The Company: A Novel of the CIA by Robert Littell, which follows a similar theme and includes the same group of people. Must say this is an excellent DVD, excellent acting and everything else that has already been mentioned!

If you liked series 1 then you will certainly like series 2. To buck the trend I would say that series 2 is even better than the first. There are a fair few sketches that fall flat, but then that is true for just about every sketch show I have ever seen. However the majority will leave a smile on your face and there are some real gems in there as well. It certainly deserves a place in my collection.

..or rather, do, because this is top quality off-the-wall Brit humour that seems to have largely slipped by unnoticed. Some excellent comedy performances from many faces that you will know (without necessarily being able to name them), in a series that actually justifies the tag 'surreal'.

Michael Winner is back - this time without Charles Bronson, who went on filming DEATH WISH V. This time Winner tells the story from a woman's point of view - and does a good job at it! Descent directing and a quite good story - based on Helen Zahavi's novel of the same title.
The psychological aspect of this movie is a lot better than in most of its kind - Lia Williams is convincing as Bella by portraying her transformation from victim to vigilante. There is some cynical dark humor in this as well - a wink to that end scene of Death Wish 1?
Quite graphic in the depiction of sex and violence, but then again, aren't they all? A few scenes do seem a bit staged (Gun store scene) or remind of other movies (Bella taking out 3 guys in an alley, Bronson-style), ... Read More:
