I have no doubts that this will forever be my favourite film. The story is spot on, the characters perfect and Pierce Brosnan at his absolute best. I can't think of a better way to spend a few hours in front of the TV.

Even the 3rd film, which is almost definitely the weakest of the four, is fantastic. The opening scene with the bomb in the skyscraper is a classic, and shows Gibson and Glover working as a pair like no one else ever really has. Each film is a near-perfect mix of humour and action, although number one is distinctly less comical and a lot darker. They're the kind of films that never get tedious no matter how many times you've seen them. And unlike Die Hard, the final 'let's rehash an old franchise to make some more money' entry doesn't suck! One of the best film series of all time.

There are not many golf films but of those that there are this is probably the best. Kevin Costner is an ill-diciplined golf pro, running a decrepid driving range in a small Texas town. He is a naturally gifted player choc full of inner demons and a strong reckless streak. Along comes Reno Russo for a lesson (she is also the local shrink) and from there the sparks fly and in a bid to prise her away from an old partner and rival he tries to qualify for the USA Open. The film is warm and funny and a love story as much about his relationship with his caddy and best friend Romeo (played by Cheech Martin)with whom he has a somewhat fractious interplay as Romeo tries to keep him playing in a sensible fashion. It is a great film about human fraility, the hunt ... Read More:

In The Line of Fire is another fantastic film from Clints 'latter years', though it's always nice to see by this time he still had a full voice and wasn't so creaky. The storyline is good enough to keep you hooked, while the plot, though has been done quite a few times before, is given a 'Presidential' makeover when looney-assasin John Malkovich plans to kill the President before the end of the current elections.
It's also funny in its own way that he still has this amazing ability to attract even young women, as he so does in this film despite the 40/50 year age gap. Must be his own brand of aftershave... Davidoff hasn't pulled for me yet!
What's also nice to see is that he puts a smile on his face regularly whilst sweet-talking his ... Read More:

When I first saw this movie, I didn't know what to expect. I was very happy that I saw this but it had a lot of thematic and freaky elements. Dustin Hoffman and everybody else in the cast is really good and their performances were cool. A bunch of big named stars in this made this disease movie work. It showed how good the army would do if they had a disease that had an outbreak and it shows what risks they would take.
Overall the whole movie is really cool. The acting was great and the direction is good, too.

Recently watched Mel Gibson one but wanted to know more about the original (Glenn Ford) and intrigued by this Sean Connery one NOT THE MEL GIBSON 1997 ONE! Why are all the reviews for Mel Gibson, which I think was a great film incidentally, but I want to know about this one. Very frustrating.

Crime comedy in which John Travolta's Miami-based loan shark goes to Los Angeles to collect a debt and finds himself attracted to the world of the Hollywood movie business. An enjoyable couple of hours, with John Travolta effortlessly cool as the loan shark who is thinking about changing careers and getting into films, and also good turns from Gene Hackman as a movie producer, Dennis Farina and Delroy Lindo as a couple of ruthless gangsters and Danny DeVito as a Hollywood movie star.

This is just about entertaining enough to not completely overpower the viewer with irritation. It's basically family values plus the odd car chase and murder. Jet Li puts in a great turn and the action is spectacular in places, but has long since lost its teeth.
