I have recently discovered modern British comedy, and I am a HUGE fan of comedies like Shameless, Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy's road to nowhere, Extras and The office. This comedy was recommended to me based on my opinion on Shameless, which I think is the best TV-show ever. However, "Gavin and Stacey" doesn't even get close to any of the shows mentioned. To me, it seems "stiff", very "acted" and WAAY to sweet. The character Nessa is a bit funny, and rescues it from being a complete disaster, but in general I find the rest of the cast quite boring or even repulsive. (Couldn't stand the smiley doll Stacey.)I was very disappointed.

What a fantastic comedy, Britain has been lacking a good heart warming comedy for years and now its here Gavin and Stacey,What a fantastic bunch of characters from Smiffy and Ness to Gav's mum and Dad, I bet everyone knows a family or a character they can relate to,I know i do!!!
Its the type of programme you can watch again and again and you will pick up on a few puns you missed before. Cracking highly reccomended and the 2nd series does not let you down just like the 1st.Watch it...

To some people, Alan Partridge may be just too odious to watch. Tommy Saxondale is a nicer guy, just a bit of a plonker at times. So, this may be a comedy for some to appreciate the talent of Steve Coogan.
I think Tommy Saxondale is his best character since Partridge. Maybe there is some of Partridge in him, or is that Steve Coogan !
I am a big fan of Alan Partridge so was pleased when this new character came along. I thought the first serious very good, and the second, even better. Just wish it would come out on DVD.

I decided to put up a review of this film after purchasing it from Amazon, at just under 7.00GBP. To be honest, their cannot be many people who have not seen the movie before, although, perhaps like me, it has been quite a while. DVD special features (or lack of them) don't really concern me, and this review concentrates on the film. Basically, Eastwood is hung in error by a posse in search of a murdering cattle rustler. Eastwood is found by a passing Marshal, while still alive. After being cleared, he takes a position as a Marshal himself. While "vengeance" is to some degree in the film, Cooper (Eastwood's character) does not actively go in search if this for most of the film. Anyway, to the main question: satisfaction and ... I would highly reccomend this series. I was a big fan of it when it was on the teleision and enjoyed it just as much watching them all again on DVD. Its full of laughter and comedy mixed with serious life problems, that can bring you to tears.
Kay Mellor is such a talented writer and i really loved the style in which it was written. I cant wait till the fourth series comes out on DVD.

This is one of those low budget oddities that surfaced on home video in the eighties and developed a cult following among horror fans as well as people curious to see early performances from Daniel Stern and John Goodman. Mutant tramps living under new-york city are beggining to venture to the surface to find fresh meat, speading panic amongst the city's homeless population, a cop, a soup-kitchen worker and a professional photographer begin to investigate the mystery. Anchor bay's disc is great, with the best transfer I have seen yet and the film itself has been re-edited and presented as the director intended. The commentary track is both fun and informative and the disc also includes a superb easter egg. At the prices i've seen this go for on amazon this is an essential ... Read More:

- This film demands on putting every person into sterioticial roles, even on the front cover it has pictures of the main charecters and labels them like Geek or Sex freak. This can be sometimes funny but mainly annoying because nobody is just one thing. This film is slightly surial and although having a frankly ludicrous basis it handles it with humour and charm. Not being an American teen movie its significantly less glossy and is much more gritty. After being set up on a date this girl desides to go to this virtual reality confrence where she desighnes her perfect man. but while she is making him there is a explosion and the man she creats come to life. This movies really isnt as simple as it seems there are very many twists and turns. Although there are fairly considerable ... Read More:

Billy Wilder had the wonderful idea of transferring "Irma La Douce" the musical, to the screen. The only problem was, that when he started to make it, he thought(rather oddly)that the songs slowed down the action!
So what did he do?Tighten up the script, drop an odd song or two?NO,he just ditched ALL the sung lyrics, and used the remaining music as background.
So if you think this is the musical, you are going to be sadly disappointed.
As the reviewer above had said it's a great comedy, but NOT the musical that many people were(and are looking) for.

Three brothers, for different reasons, are forced to leave their home. Two,Orrin(Tom Sellack)and Ty(Jeff Osterhage)end up together on a cattle drive eventually becoming lawmen in Santa Fe.The other ,Tell(Sam Elliott)ends up gold prospecting in the Rockies but their paths eventually cross when the Bigalow clan headed up by Ira(Jack Elam)who are after Tell track him down to a small border town which brings Orrin and Ty running to the side of their brother.
Based upon two of Louis L'Amour's many Sacketts novels, the gunplay is a little pokey and plot developments are played heavy handedly when the finesse of say a Lonesome Dove is needed.Peter Osterhage(save for one tension filled showdown)is weak as is Tom Sellack in a strangely subdued performance.
All that said Sam Elliott is terrific ... Read More:
