My boyfriend has all the books and a couple of the DVDs. I thought it wouldn't be my thing at all cos not into history or war but after watching his DVD got totally hooked and bought the box set!! Think it is totally entertaining and wish there was more to watch. Great hangover watching.

OK, we've seen this type of movie before. The oppressive future governments ruling with violence and without remorse fighting against rebels wanting to be free. Equilibrium does this style of movie so much better. How? I hear you ask. With the help of Christian Bale. My review will be in three different stages. i have seen many films most are acceptable a few which are boring and some i couldn't stand. but this has started a new league of it's own i found that the films were mind griping exciting and almost had me glued to my chair. if any one is unsure wheater or not to buy these films my advice to you would be rent them first and see if you enjoy it i done that my self and adored these movies. i highly recommend this and i'm sure you will enjoy it to.

Although I enjoyed the film on a very basic, escapist level, the cynical American nationalism on show was quite replellent. As the film bowls along we are given endless panoramic views of American landmarks, cities, and - what a shock - an aircraft carrier brimming over with fighter planes. The theme throughout appears to be "Gee, aint the good ole USA amazing!" with a flimsy adventure almost tacked on. Also, in the company of Harvey Keitel and Sean Bean (what were they thinking?) Nicolas Cage proves once again that he can't act; I suppose that's what nepotism is all about - if Uncle Francis Ford Coppola couldn't give his nephew a hand up, who could? The title says it all these movies are amazing the storyline is amazing, the special effects are out of this world, acting is superb, the battle scenes are breathtaking. Peter Jackson is a genius no one thought anyone could do this but peter jackson prooved everyone wrong. I remember seeing all of them at the cinema they were breathtaking especially the battle senes. I have all 3 films but the first i have on VHS so soon i'm gonna need to buy this. THIS FILM IS A MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!

I've heard lots of good reviews about this movie and decided to watch it. Of course, this is all a matter of opinion but this movie is seriously wierd (a characteristic I usually welcome) but it's greatest 'no-no' was lack of direction. After finishing the movie I was like 'what the hell was this'. It seriously felt like the creators of it were mocking you after having waisted over an hour of your precious time.
On a more objective note, the acting and direction were very good, it's the story that brings it down like a rock to the bottom of a deep-deep river.

I never really got the nack of 3 hour films, 'Lord of the rings' etc. but Troy is a powerful action packed film with plenty of hard fighting.
Troy is an 'Epic' you may find the term when you look at Kingdom of heaven, Gladiator or Master and Commander. I can clearly see Troy up with films like that. As for the film iself, it has an amazing cast and i was surprised to see Sean Bean as well since i didnt read the small print lol bu yeah and it featured Peter O'toole who ive seen in many other films. As for the special effects, what can i say it looked real from the start,the fighting was was gorey from what you might of seen in Gladiator like Stab, Chopped heads of etc.

The film starts with,and initially promisingly develops an intrigueing premise.
However,once the two leading characters escape,either the Director got bored,or there was a change of Directors,because a quiet,introspective film suddenly veers into a series of almighty smash,and wreck,chases which,for me,ruin a film which could have been so much more.

I bought this version because I had just seen the French adaptation by Pascale Ferran(which got many awards and the 'Cesar' award this year and which delighted me completely!) and I was suddenly curious (as I read the book) to see the British version of it. Especially as the two actors seemed familiar to me and as it was made by the BBC (it usually means the series or the drama is of good quality).
But I was very disappointed by this version. By episode 2, either I was bored or felt like laughing because some scenes were not very well-made. OK, I know I can't be objective (I've seen the French film and of course I like it very much) but I am going to do my best not to compare it to the French one.

'Outlaw' started out looking very promising with a good premise and cast. Sadly by the end it has descended into farce and strayed away from the themes of the film, namely that of a fractured society and a vigilante group fighting back against injustice. If it had stuck to this then this film may well have impressed me more. It moved from a wider dissatisfaction and fighting back against wayward society, to a personal vendetta against one mans criminal activities. Never-the-less it is pretty well acted, shot and directed and it managed to keep my interest for most of the film. The violence is pretty shocking in places but is integral to the themes in the film.
