So many comic book films are created with the studios forcing it into a lower certificate by cutting various scenes out. This was shown clearly with the Daredevil Directors Cut being so much darker than the original that it was an entirely new film!
Thankfully this movie did not suffer from that fate. Clearly the director has been given a free reign on the movie and as such he has created an authentic Iron Man, and I am pleased that Robert Downey Jr has nailed the character so well. The comedy is refreshing and the action is superb but the story is also excellent, something that every good movie needs.
Oh, and watch the scene after the credits.....interesting!

It's reasonably clean family viewing if you're into super heroes and big boy's toys. Well I liked it!
It's worth watching just to see the suit being fitted to Tony Stark (Rob Downey jr).
Iron man is pretty 2d character in the comics (in my opinion), but thanks to the marvels of CGI the best thing about him - his suit - is brought marvelously to life. Add to that some good performances from Downey and Co, plus a half decent plot and you get a pretty good movie.
I saw this at the cinema and loved it! I saw The Dark Knight on the other hand and was disappointed. This is comic book escapism and good clean fun (if memory serves me right) and stands comfortably besides Spiderman and the newer Superman movie.

Having stumbled across the trailer for Iron Man some months before the movies actual release, I found myself in an interesting situation. Iron Man had never really held that much appeal for me in the comics, although his appearances in various Marvel arcade games was always a welcome one. I guess this actually demonstrates part of the problem, in that the suit outweighed the stories, for me and for a lot of people.
From the moment I saw that trailer though, I was converted, I have to say. Not only was it an INSPIRED piece of casting to have semi-tamed wild child and renowned addict Downey, jr. as Stark, it showed brilliantly how Stark, this unimpeded man finally has to grow up and accept responsibility (and without the aid of Uncle ... The only person who could enjoy this film would be someone who could completely suspend all belief in reality. The story is so far fetched that it is laughable. It draws from various sources not least of which is Oliver Twist, with Robin Williams in the role of Fagin. I have read some of the reviews which praise the film and I am frankly amazed. I have seen worse films but am struggling to name them !!!!

If you were born in the 1980s, your knowledge of comic book heroes will probably come from Saturday morning cartoons. Spiderman - guy bitten by a radioactive spider can suddenly swing from buildings. Batman - billionaire with a fetish for bats. X-Men - humans who have evolved special powers by sitting near the microwave for too long. And Iron man...what, never heard of him? Well let me fill you in.
When on a weapons display with the US military in Afghanistan, the convoy of billionaire industrialist, scientific genius and play-boy Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is attacked by terrorist group The Ten Rings. On being returned to their cave, rather than building the weapons which the insurgents want, Stark builds himself a suit which allows him ... Read More:

If memory serves, this was a blink and you'll miss it theatrical release which continued the downward spiral of former Sith Lord, Hayden Christiansen and the ongoing how has Jessica Alba got a career debate. But actually, it's not all bad. The tagline was ""Every year 21 million people go under anaesthesia. One in 700 remain awake the entire time. When they planned her husband's murder, they never thought he'd be the one."
Which sums it up pretty well. The basic riff is that Clay (Christiansen) is a young tycoon with a dodgy ticker, an over-protective mother (played by Lena Olin who acts everyone else off the page) and a secret bride to be, Sam (Alba). Clay marries Sam the same night as his heart transplant is taking place, an operation being carried out ... Read More:

this is one of those films that after watching everything else in your dvd collection or at the cinema, you wish you had watched this 1 first. at first your not sure what to expect but for some reason you cant or dont want to turn it off, but i garuntee if you have the patience to watch this start to finish (odd scenes, but very powerful, meaningful, engrossing storylines) you will watch it again.
this is definetly a film for anybody with a passion for music, its about 1 mans triumph and persistance that against all the odds (even thoguh you know from about 20mins in) to show his passion for something to people who wouldn't necessarily be interested.
PLEASE jsut watch this film, i do and im sure 99% of others who have will promise you a good film.

If you don't take heed to another thing you read, please take heed to these reviews. I didn't and now I join the ranks of regretful watchers! Please note that I can't even bring myself to rate this production (but I see I HAVE to at least give it an overly generous 1). I got myself comfy with a bottle of wine and settled in to take in my purchase. 15mins into it I realised that not even the wine I desperately clung to would help me get through this dreadful attempt at entertainment. To summerise the most entertaining thing about this poor production is the reviews on this page and it's such a shame as I'm a huge fan of Terrence Howard. :-(

Jennifer Lopez's best work after the universally admired Out Of Sight. This time she is a tough street cop whose life is saved by an almost ethereal stranger (Jim Caviezel). They then tentatively begin a relationship, one which forces them both to confront the emotional traumas they are each carrying around.
Personally, I liked the way the movie toys with our expectations, something that I didn't find erratic or in any way trite. In fact, both leads are splendid and rather than compartmentalize Angel Eyes as a chicks' movie, I would say that it has a perfectly balanced appeal for both men and women, provided they haven't an aversion to Lopez founded on her offscreen reputation for unbearable diva-like behaviour.
Rent it first if you're not sure, but this ... Read More:
