Don't waste your money. I've watched loads of TV series on DVD, and was looking forward to this one. Boy, was I disappointed. An actor who should never have been a lead man as their lead man, slow moving programmes, unfunny gimmicks .. in short, one of the worst programmes I've ever seen. I couldn't even watch it all, it was that bad.

You want classic TV: Try HBO's "Big Love". Try "The Sopranos". For sci-fi, try "Battlestar Galactica". Don't go near this turkey.

After I saw it on TV during the 90's, and being short on sci-fi gender DVD box-sets (which I love), I gave it a go on this one and it was very worthy. I really enjoy it then, and also now.

It focuses on a teenager genius that discovered a way to visit other Earth paralel dimensions, and with some friends is forced on doing it until they can find their original Earth parallel dimension. They visit a doomsday Earth threatened by a huge asteroid; a plague afflicted Earth, and so on.

The DVD have English subtitles, for those whom need a little help on catching the dialogs (witch is great for all non-English); but poor special features. The box is nice.

Yes,Universal Playback!! What can I say, except that this company loves to buy titles and then let fans hang waiting for further seasons that never materialise! They usually do it with popular BBC series, and in my opinion they should be boycotted!. Whats the point of releasing 3 seasons of a show and leaving the final two on the shelf. OK 4 & 5 weren't all that, but completists want them for heavens sake. God, I hate these companies, don't you??!!

Eureka season 1 is an undemanding series. No complicated plots or deep emotions. However it can be funny and the bonus materials indicate an enthusiastic following as shown by fake infomercials and webisodes for serious fans.

First the poor bits. Each crisis is often caused by a superscience mishap and seems to often be solved by a device invented for the purpose. Jo Morton playing genius garage mechanic Henry, almost seems to mimic Mr Spock regularly saving the Enterprise by reversing the polarity on gobbledygook. A lot of the "science" is just fantasy and wish fulfilment - and might as well be magic. Just throw in a few topical physics words.

I thought this series being made in 1996 would be rather out of date. However, I was wrong. I read a lot of crime fiction and it was my reading that attracted me to the title of the DVD. The pilot was excellent and has your attention to continue viewing. Overall, I enjoyed this series and would happily buy the next season; it is much better viewing than anything on current TV.

I thought this series being made in 1996 would be rather out of date. However, I was wrong. I read a lot of crime fiction and it was my reading that attracted me to the title of the DVD. The pilot was excellent and has your attention to continue viewing. Overall, I enjoyed this series and would happily buy the next season; it is much better viewing than anything on current TV.

The complete series consists of 13 episodes written and produced by Shaun Cassidy (American Gothic) and Ron Koslow (Beauty and the Beast) - two series I greatly enjoyed.
Roar is set in a fictitious Ireland 400 AD when the Celtic tribes are at war with each other and the Romans invade the country. Conor (18-year old Heath Ledger), a young prince, and Fergus (John Saint Ryan), his friend and bodyguard, loose their people in a massacre in the pilot of the series. Conor then becomes chief of a group of war-victims. A position he is given by a mystical old man who (literally) disappears into thin air as soon as Conor accepts his new role. This is a great film about a convenience store hostage situation that is broadcast nationally,
making some of the hostages national hero's. SFW focuses on the chaos that ensues when you
give fame and fortune to disaffected youth who not only don't really care, but don't even want it
(Hence the title which will become clear when you watch the film). Steven Dorff and Reese
Witherspoon are perfect in the lead roles, allowing young people or those who were once young
to identify with the situations. (Tobey Maguire of Spiderman also appears in an early cameo as a stoned teenager)
