I too am not sure that complaints about lack of subtitles etc are really pertinent. That said, I didn't think this one was quite up to the standard of previous boxsets. As well as a few uninspired plots, there's also some lazy writing, exemplified by the careless, unsatisfactory explanation for the change of Barnaby's sidekick part-way through the set. On the whole, though, still fun to watch.

Halloween is coming in Midsomer, and Barnaby has got to organise a party, pushed by Joyce. Anyhow, paranormal background round the county is far from being a dreary one. Ernest Balliol, who runs a web shop purveying strange artefacts, is angry at his past mate and friend Aloysius Wilmington, who has written a text claiming the order of thot, a sect, was established during his drunken stupor. Ernest has got two children, Tristan, a reliable and good lawyer, who is always in disfavour of his father's silly interest in this order, and Isolde, an assumed witch, who has seduced Wilmington's nephew to get a precious text.
Anyhow, during a show hosted by Aloysius, his assistant, Jean Wildacre, drops dead in the "Chamber of death" a cupboard ... Read More:

Absolutely WONDERFUL entertainment. Worth the expense to own all these great tv MIDSOMERS MURDER movies. Can watch over and over.
Wish continued success and many more fine DCI BARNABY cases solved.

This is another excellent collection of 'Midsomer Murders' episodes. All the episodes are enjoyable; amongst the best are 'Judgement Day' with its disturbing opening sequence, 'Destroying Angel' and the subtle 'Blue Herrings' which features a particularly moving performance from the talented Angela Down. Oh, and don't worry if you can't follow the explanation for one of the murders in 'The Electric Vendetta' - apparently, the programme-makers edited it out by mistake!

Barnaby and DS Jones are looking into the mysterious death of a Londoner. They come across the ruthless and aged reviewer Guy Sandys, who has been writing despicable and disconterting reviews of many restaurants and hotels round Midsomer. But he can't envisage writing his last one because he is stabbed to death in his own office later that day. Then, the drunk and colourful receptionist Eleanor Crouch is found dead in a washing machine of the Moorecroft Hotel, one of the establishment which has been bitterly criticised by Sandys. This time Barnaby is facing an astute and cunning killer.
