Riveting television, Spooks 6 is must see spy on spy action. Directors, writers and actors are all masters of the art of rising tension. Shifting alliances, plot reversals and twist upon twist, this is the best thriller series I've seen for a long time hands down.

What I love about this show is just when you think you've got each episode pinned, bang, something comes along to turn your prediction on its head. Wonderful performances from the central cast as well, but one to watch of the 'drop ins' is Agni Scott who plays Ana Bakhshi the wife of the Iranian Ambassador. She is heartbreakingly good. Do yourself a favour and watch this.

You can try to compare Spooks to US series like 24 but for me Spooks is on a whole different level to 24. After a few short series 24 is starting to go stale with the same kind of plots being played out season after season. The explosions get bigger but the bottom line is still the same. Spooks on the other hand seems to go from strength to strength with every passing season. Yes there are only 10 episodes per season but that gives you some idea of the amount of thought that goes into every episode. I think the reason Spooks gets stronger with every episode is because it doesn't rely on the explosions and gun-battles that 24 does to make an impact. Great idea on Paper, had potential. What we got was silly little boys and girls running around playing spys! Poor acting, painfull to watch. I gave the first episode ten minutes and couldn't take any more of this drivel! Spooks (origional) is a tried and tested success! It works, you can't beat it! Leave it alone! The only use for this dvd is as a drinks mat and that's being generous!

I have always loved this show from season 1 and the quality of writing is the best among all the BBC TV shows. 24 should take a que from this series and make it's storylines more believable.Rupert-Penry Jones is just an added bonus to this show:-) I just wish each season had 24 episodes....BBC listen!

I thought these episodes were better than most of series 1 and 2, generally more interesting. Exception: The rock star child kidnap episode was truly dreadful.
Rupert Penry-Jones as Adam Carter is ; in my opinion, better than Mat MacFadayen ever was.

After watching the first series, I thought I was prepared for the 2nd. With the cliff-hanger last episode of the first series, I was glad I had already bought the second. But things become more complicated in personal lives, "spy" lives, and just plain spying. It started very strongly and promised to be the equal or better than the first series. Episode 5 is by far the best episode of any series I have ever seen. I was literally on the edge of my seat for all 59 minutes. In some ways it isn't fair to compare the rest of the series after that mind blowing episode. But after that, some of the episodes just did not have the quality of the original series. This type of show does not come along often enough. Well written, superbly acted, fast paced, compelling and thought provoking. You are hooked after the first 5 minutes. It was late and my husband and I made the mistake of thinking we would only watch about 20 minutes of an episode. We were riveted to our chairs for the entire hour. I'm not even sure we blinked. To those having trouble hearing it, on the "Desktop" at the beginning, use your up, down, left or right remote keys and navigate over to the phone and hit Play. It will give you an option of stereo (2) or monaural (I think, the computer voice is hard to understand) (5). We found it easier to understand on (2) stereo. Then pick the episode you want to watch. Why oh why Amazon, is the box set of Spooks 1 - 6 nearly £25.00 cheaper than the boxed set 1 - 5?

Your paying more, and loosing out on a series? Not Big, Not Clever! Pretty stupid marketing actually, especially as it's cheaper to get all the series individually too!Spooks: Complete BBC Series 1-6 [2002]

Nice to have all five series together, even if overpriced, but is it me or is the series getting a bit tired? Like so many good series they seem to be trying too hard as time goes on, with more and more farfetched plots; think the last series of Ally Macbeal for example.

As an aside, I don't expect realism from this sort of series but I would hope that MI5 has somewhat more than the skeleton staff portrayed here, with 5-6 people to save the country each week.
