OK, so this isn't actually out yet. But this DVD will almost certainly, in my opinion, be the BIG stand-up DVD this Christmas, in the same way that Alan Carr's was over Christmas 2007. Frankie Boyle has become a very big star thanks to his constantly hilarious appearances on Mock The Week, plus some other shows, and this DVD will, I think, become one of those stand-up DVDs which become huge word-of-mouth hits (like Peter Kay's stuff, or Bill Bailey's Part Troll).
I saw Frankie on the same tour on which this DVD was filmed, and he was nothing short of phenomenal. Some of the material was familiar to me (I am a huge Mock The Week fan, and recognised some bits from the stand-up round), but with material this funny I'm not going to ... Read More:

Alan Carr is easily one of those comedians who takes what we know about stand up comedy and turns it on its head. He's not a cynical comedian nor is he an over the top gay comedian who spends the entire show talking about his sex life (See Julian Clary). Alan is a comedian who can take real life, talk about it in the typical bitchy female way and make it hysterical.
His stories are classic comic scenarios placed in an environment that every audience member can relate to. He's an every day comedian, he's the man you will likely sit next to on a bus who's going to insist on telling you his life story whether you have your MP3 player on or not. The difference between Alan and the guy on the bus is you really want to listen to Alan. You ... Read More:

I'd been eagerly awaiting this DVD having missed the opportunity to go and see the show in Edinburgh, as I had done with 90s Comedian. I was, like other reviewers here, disappointed that the Delboy bit and the Mallard bit were missing as I had read reviews referring to them. It's perhaps more disappointing for me as I didn't get to hear those routines at all.
Stylistically this is closer to Stand-Up Comedian than 90s Comedian, the latter of which seemed to form one cohesive narrative and was like a single hour-long routine, while the former was a collection of routines. This set has a sort of narrative running through it about how Stew's mum thinks he's not as funny as an old 70s comedian she saw on a cruise holiday once, but essentially ... Read More:

Love this guy! Especially between 95 to 98, what a comedic god! It was a shame he finished his career with a whimper rather than a BANG but with material (Difinate Article, Glorious, Dressed to Kill) like this, who cares? It does make one wonder what it is about his first release 'Live at the Ambassador' that makes him want us never to see or know about it again? I have it on VHS and it knock spots of Cirle and the dreadful Sexy. Come on Eddie, release your first offering, the bit about the Dalek is a hoot!

Jimmy Carr is without doubt one of the country's most talented entertainers. From 'Distraction' to '8 out of 10 Cats', his dry sarcasm has certainly catapulted him to comedy stardom. This stand-up DVD does not disappoint at all and sees Jimmy deliver his quick-fire jokes at the normal rapid pace, but it's the other parts to his routine that stand out for me. In particular the sections where he helps people with ideas of what to write in birthday/get well soon/good luck cards, how to fill in job applications and also answering Agony Aunt letters in his unique way.
Favourite lines include:
Q. What will you be bringing to this job?
A. I will be bringing my sisters children on a Tuesday whilst she is at aqua aerobics.

I bought the boxset after watching the XL Tour his most recent DVD which was brilliant, one of the best comdians i've seen. The only problem was, this was his best work and so as i watched the boxset from the start, the first few seemed nothing on his last, despite some fantastic jokes and ideas. So don't over-estimate the boxset if your watching after seeing one of his later DVD's, but to a newcomer watching from 1994 to present, this boxset is outstanding.

I have watched this DVD more times than I can count, and I never fail to end up in tears of laughter from start to finish. Dara gives quite simply the best stand up performance I have watched in years. The brilliance of his show is the ad libbing with members of the audience... how he can create an entire routine on the spot simply by chatting to audience members is amazing. Best bits... well where to start... Gillian Mc Keith.....and the marvellous "you've been told twice" line just kills me !!! SUPERB

i didn't go to see this show at the bloomsbury theatre where the dvd was recorded, but i went to the same show at the royal court theatre in liverpool and there is no denying that this man is side splittingly funny! he was always my favourite comedian on mock the week and going to see his show confirmed to me that he's something special. his support act was awful however so i really hope he doesn't make the cut of the dvd! however, if you love russell's kooky humour on mock the week then i highly recommend this to you! i know i'll be buying it to keep me amused before i go and see him live again in december!

I LOVE this routine. Eddie Murphy is and always will be a comedy genius. The film is side splitting from the outset; Eddie just seems to bring that uniqueness to the stage and makes the most basic thing funny. Revisiting "Delirious" 24 years after its creation is great to have. The material does seem to have aged as well as the transformation to this disc, but it's hilarious.
The look of Eddie and some of the pop culture it consists of gives it away that this is the '80s; however, enough of the material is comprised of solid universal themes it remains funny. I still laugh myself senselessly when Murphy launches into "I got some ice cream, I got some ice cream!" or "I want half!" He's a filthy mouthed funny guy that reminds me of Richard Pryor's vulgarity coupled ... Read More:

I live in the United States where only a small handful of the Hal Roach produced Laurel & Hardy films have ever been released on DVD. Not caring to wait any longer for the current U.S. rights holder to issue a comprehensive set of these classics, I decided to order this collection and purchase a region-free DVD player to view them. I'm very glad I did! This set has all of the available L&H silent and sound films produced by the Hal Roach Studios except "Babes in Toyland" (aka "March of the Wooden Soldiers"), "Bonnie Scotland", and "The Devil's Brother" (aka "Fra Diavolo").
I haven't watched all the films yet, but of the "talkies", the ones I have sampled generally have great picture and sound. The only one I've seen so far that appears not up to the this excellent ... Read More:
