I have recently discovered modern British comedy, and I am a HUGE fan of comedies like Shameless, Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy's road to nowhere, Extras and The office. This comedy was recommended to me based on my opinion on Shameless, which I think is the best TV-show ever. However, "Gavin and Stacey" doesn't even get close to any of the shows mentioned. To me, it seems "stiff", very "acted" and WAAY to sweet. The character Nessa is a bit funny, and rescues it from being a complete disaster, but in general I find the rest of the cast quite boring or even repulsive. (Couldn't stand the smiley doll Stacey.)I was very disappointed.

The credits are still rolling but I had to get this review in!
After watching the painful BBC version this is brilliant by comparison. Please don't buy the BBC one, get this instead. I can't fault it! It is just like the image of narnia in my head. Very believeable, great characters, great battle scenes. I cringed all the way through the BBC version but this was a delight to watch.

As usual the BBC have excelled in this work. A very well deserved 10/10. Almost 6 hours of stunning education for less than £15. Now I must go and see China for myself.

I went to see this film with a friend and that is how it is supposed to be viewed, now thats over with I want to say i loved this film as a young man i still managed to connect with many of the characters and even shed a slight tear when the wedding didn't go as planned it was funny and moving and a lot like the series which was a big bonus. Its completely overdone and emotional and heartwarming its a real feel good movie and one worth buying merely for those down moments. It is exactly what the cinema going audience needed a big hug in film form and is up there with Wall-E (one of the best films i think iv ever seen) for best film of the year so far.

Is it just me or is it that sooooo much of Torchwood is about Gwen??? Is it wrong to hate her for this???
Anyway, rant over. This was a truly wicked series (Even better than the first). Clever, Fast, Emotional, Tense, Exciting, Sexy, Sad, Funny. What more can you ask for??
In my opinion, I would ask for more on Ianto. He is my favourite character, with so much potentional, and yet he is mainly ignored!!
More Ianto and Jack too. They make a cute couple. Go away Gwen, you have Rhys!!!!

5 star quality comedy yet again. The only small complaint about this series is that there ain't enough Johnston (bar episode 6). Long term fans won't feel let down. Buy it now u fools!

For those Brits unfamiliar with the Conchords (previous to buying the radio show on a whim, I had only glimpsed the name on the late night slots of BBC3 - where the show was shown at 11.30), they are, of course, New Zealand's 4th most popular novelty Folk band. They live in a miniscule apartment in New York, where they are trying to make the big time, and are managed by their incompetent but lovable manager Murray (the same actor and essential character as Brian from the radio show) who is also the New Zealand Consulate at the New York global embassy.
The tone of the show is unlike any other I've seen, as the two characters of Bret and Jermaine have a deep sense of inner innocence, and an obviously strong friendship. Their exploration of all things New York as well as their somewhat failing band, ... Read More:

When you look at the intelligence and the quality of the first Season and the pace and the depth of the second, what was missing was the dark and gritty side and Season 3 has that in all 13 episodes. It is more dark, we see the violent side of Michael Scofield and the emotional side instead of his clam persona. The setting is scary, brutal and an image of hell. Sona is without a doubt, the scariest prison you will ever come across. The inmates run the yard, people die and nobody comes out alive. The writers were really clever with Sona, it is the setting that we get to see Michael's different side. The side where he is not only brains but aggressive. I think the star of the 3rd Season is Alex Mahone's character. He has become more important as the show goes on and the newfound respect he finds with Michael is great ... Read More:

goodness knows what the bbc are playing at but they have labelled all their mini series ( bleak house, planet earth, 20,000 streets ) etc as 1080i on the box set when in fact it is full 1080p - I just checked it on my blu-ray/hd-dvd drive on my PC using Nero Showtime which gives you full technical details of all the dics you play and it is full 1080p on the four feature discs and the 5th bonus disc of features is 1080i.
just which idiot decided to label it as this remains a mystery.
