The best TV show ever, from season's 1 to 5. This TV show looks at many aspects of life and seems to get better the more you watch it. An essential buy for any fan.

Having been unimpressed with first series of The Wire, I only started watching this, the second series, due to the endless critical praise that I kept seeing every time I picked up a newspaper. And I'm glad I did. The second series of The Wire is a huge improvement on the first. The story is deliberately slow to get into its stride but nevertheless is compelling from the opening credits to the final fade. This is a high quality Police drama which shows the good and the bad in everyone; the criminals, the stevedores and the Police all have very human qualities, both strengths and weaknesses, and the divide between crime and order is a realistically hazy one. A highly realistic drama showing the pitfalls of Police investigative techniques, the hard ... Read More:

Let me start out by saying: I can't possibly say anything negative about this season nor this series.
It has a brilliant main plot with new seasonending-leadups every year which always keeps it fresh and new. It also has great writers (especially Sera Gamble) and puts the old horrormyths to excellent use, such as Hellhounds, Vampires, Ghouls, Ghost, etc. But what really keeps me hooked to the show and on the edge of my seat during every episode is the excellent acting done, mainly, by Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles but much praise should also go to Jim Beaver (Bobby), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (John W.), Lauren Cohan (Bela, though sadly she didn't make it into the fourth season), Samantha Ferris (Ellen), and Alona Tal (Jo). Thanks to great casting ... Read More:

Take a close look at the cover of the season three dvd and you will notice something: Avon and Stringer, together in the same car, but looking in different directions. That tells you all you need to know about these two 'brothers' in season three of The Wire. Whilst Stringer is greasing palms to make the most of the properties they control Avon is glad to be back in the game, keeping control of the corners, and regaining his place on the street. Season three brings us back to the problem of drugs in Baltimore and one man's plan to combat the problem. Major Colvin jokes at one stage that to meet the crime reduction targets he has been set he is going to legalise drugs. But his throwaway comment isn't too far from the truth. By creating zones where a blind eye will ... Read More:

On the 6 June 1998, a show called Sex and the City debuted on the male dominated cable channel HBO. But this wasn't the smutty show most would have been expecting when they tuned in. What they got was a well-written, sassy comedy-drama, by not one, not two, but four strong females. Six years, 94 episodes and an uncountable number of boyfriends later, these four New York women had changed TV, women and sex forever.
Its fours years later and we're back with New York's favourite girls. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her `man-friend' Big (Chris Noth) are house hunting, and more importantly, still not married; Samantha (Kim Cattrall) has relocated to LA to further the career of boyfriend Smith (Jason Lewis); Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is struggling to juggle ... What an awesome series; exciting and truly addictive. For those who criticise its historical accuracy, it is a FICTIONAL story, and a rather good one at that! Those who care about history will already know the truths, those that don't, does it really matter??
I loved it. My only criticism is that it ended where it did. Looking forward to series 2!!

This is the Coen Brothers back to their best, after a mis-step with Intolerable Cruelty and, frankly, an awful remake of The Ladykillers.
The pacing, script, acting, direction are all first class.
Many people seem to have awarded this just 1 star. That is a disgrace.
If you liked Three Burials, Michael Clatyon and In The Vally of Elah, this will be your type of film.
If not, watch The Jeremy Kyle Show in your underwear and have a pot-noodle.

I was disappointed by the whole of season 2. The story is so depressing, there are very few light moments. It's a real shame because it looks great and it's well acted but it's just depressing.
