I've never been so disappointed by a COlin Firth movie! I read the book and I expected a lot more from this movie. The script has little to do with the book and the plot is weak and predictable.

I did not want to say much about the film or the DVD, because both are without a doubt great and dearly recommended, but the description contains one flaw, cause it claims the DVD would have the DTS-Soundtrack on it, which it doesn't. I ask for an update on the Features, but untill that comes through, this has to do.

Gibson surrounds himself with brilliant actors who snatch the scenes off him, while he snatches the entire movie straight back from all of them. Randall Wallace's script is a stand-out as is Angus MacFadyen as the haunted 17th Earl of Bruce and the unforgettable Patrick MacGoohan as Edward, Hammer of the Scots, while the final charge at Bannockburn always sends chills down my spine.
Any time some English person wants to sound off about how unrealistic Braveheart is, I always tell them:

The 194-minute director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven gives the film more room to breathe, but it won't make converts of the unbelievers. Instead, it's a more leisurely paced version of the film for the faithful who liked the theatrical cut and want to revisit its world and characters in a little more detail. Closer in style and tone to sixties roadshows than Scott's Gladiator, and all the better for it, in many ways it's the richest and most ambitious of the recent batch of epics. It's more of a journey in the extended version, and a bloodier one (the added violence will please the gore hounds), although there are a few moments that tip over into self-indulgence and could have been tightened or omitted entirely.
The extended opening allows more character detail, ... Read More:

I never really got the nack of 3 hour films, 'Lord of the rings' etc. but Troy is a powerful action packed film with plenty of hard fighting.
Troy is an 'Epic' you may find the term when you look at Kingdom of heaven, Gladiator or Master and Commander. I can clearly see Troy up with films like that. As for the film iself, it has an amazing cast and i was surprised to see Sean Bean as well since i didnt read the small print lol bu yeah and it featured Peter O'toole who ive seen in many other films. As for the special effects, what can i say it looked real from the start, the fighting was was gorey from what you might of seen in Gladiator like Stab, Chopped heads of etc.
A long time ago i saw the orignal cut of Troy and i was not impressed but with the directors cut it is ... Read More:

It was a risky storyline but i do believe they pulled it off. Tom Cruise plays a borderline alcoholic/burn out U.S cavalry soldier who travels to Japan to train the Emperors army in the art of modern warfare. He finds a country on the brink of civil war as the ancient Samurai clash with the modernist elements of the 'new' Japanese government.
Cruise is captured during the very first battle and is incarcerated in a mountain village of the Samurai. He quickly learns their language (yeah right) and begins to empathise with their ways and traditions. His loyalty turns and he finds himself standing shoulder to shoulder against the new Japanese army, sent to remove the Samurai.
