I have recently discovered modern British comedy, and I am a HUGE fan of comedies like Shameless, Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy's road to nowhere, Extras and The office. This comedy was recommended to me based on my opinion on Shameless, which I think is the best TV-show ever. However, "Gavin and Stacey" doesn't even get close to any of the shows mentioned. To me, it seems "stiff", very "acted" and WAAY to sweet. The character Nessa is a bit funny, and rescues it from being a complete disaster, but in general I find the rest of the cast quite boring or even repulsive. (Couldn't stand the smiley doll Stacey.)I was very disappointed.

Much better than I had expected and I was looking for something really special to follow on after the famous black and white originals, not to mention the absolutely awful "Wildcats of St. Trinians".
Rupert Everett was wonderful as the dedicated, horsey, Miss Camilla Fritton and as her dubious brother.
Russell Brand was great in a disappointingly small role as Flash Harry.
Colin Firth and numerous famous faces provided the zany supporting cast. A bevy of very lovely girls, and a reasonable plot, all added up to a surprising fun film.
I think I will watch it again - often!
"I hope
life treats you kind
And I hope
you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish you joy
and happiness
But above all this
I wish you love
And I...
Will always love you"
(Whitney Houston)
Gerry (Gerard Butler) and Holly (Hilary Swank) are married, without children, and are very much in love. Swept off her feet at a tender age by the handsome Irishman, Holly isn't exactly sure what she wants from life, and this leads to petty squabbles and extremely hot making up afterwards.
Before they really get started, the Fates snip Gerry's thread, and Holly is left with a snazzy urn and an empty apartment, which she proceeds to fill with her blue funk. ... Read More:

Ellen Page (Hard candy) stars as Juno, a teenager who falls pregnant and doesn't want the baby for herself.
In all its hype and being a huge fan of the drama genre and J.K Simmons (Spiderman) I was really looking forward to this. I had a reasonable day at work and sat down ready to be enticed into the trauma of a young girl with a load on her shoulders, but in a way, this Oscar nominated picture kind of strayed from her emotions in the first hour, which I felt was a big mistake. A 16 year old who is carrying a baby that belongs to the love of her life who has suddenly gone cold on her, and she isn't bothered by this massive burden ahead of her? Ok a rough past may have made her grow up, but still some emotion at the beginning would have given the character ... Read More:

I went to see this film with a friend and that is how it is supposed to be viewed, now thats over with I want to say i loved this film as a young man i still managed to connect with many of the characters and even shed a slight tear when the wedding didn't go as planned it was funny and moving and a lot like the series which was a big bonus. Its completely overdone and emotional and heartwarming its a real feel good movie and one worth buying merely for those down moments. It is exactly what the cinema going audience needed a big hug in film form and is up there with Wall-E (one of the best films i think iv ever seen) for best film of the year so far.

5 star quality comedy yet again. The only small complaint about this series is that there ain't enough Johnston (bar episode 6). Long term fans won't feel let down. Buy it now u fools!

For those Brits unfamiliar with the Conchords (previous to buying the radio show on a whim, I had only glimpsed the name on the late night slots of BBC3 - where the show was shown at 11.30), they are, of course, New Zealand's 4th most popular novelty Folk band. They live in a miniscule apartment in New York, where they are trying to make the big time, and are managed by their incompetent but lovable manager Murray (the same actor and essential character as Brian from the radio show) who is also the New Zealand Consulate at the New York global embassy.
The tone of the show is unlike any other I've seen, as the two characters of Bret and Jermaine have a deep sense of inner innocence, and an obviously strong friendship. Their exploration of all things New York as well as their ... Read More:

LD is my comedy hero but I have to admit although Curb is extremely watchable,I found some of season 6 a bit of a struggle.Sometimes a bit too crude in places for my taste and I almost got to the stage where I began to think that this was a season too far.It does pick up towards the end and I very much enjoyed the series final episode. LD has set some very high standards but this was a bit below par for me.Slightly pricey for such a short season as well.I do hope LD does some more Curb.

All the best catch phrases have already been spoken for in the critics' appraisal of this original new series, the best of which had to be the description of the show as a surreal but inspirational blend of Tim Burton and the Tellytubbies. And without getting too carried away with an abundance of adjectives myself...it's undeniable that 'Pushing Daisies' is an awesomely lightweight guilty-pleasure for viewers of all age groups and walks of life!
This mass appeal is perhaps why the show has attained a level of acclaim that was sadly denied the creator's previous series. As a fan of creator Brian Fuller's `Dead Like Me' and `Wonderfalls' needless to say I had high hopes for his latest project and thankfully `Pushing Daisies' proves to be the wittiest and most charming, if not the deepest ...
