The Scream trilogy brought fresh new blood (in copious amounts) to the horror film genre. Mixing humor, pop culture, and horror, the original Scream laid the foundation for a series that carried a lot of energy through two sequels. Scream 2 was something of a step backwards from the first movie, but Scream 3 marked a turn back in the right direction. Fortunately, Wes Craven knew when to stop, as Scream 3 evidenced some decline in the novelty of the concept, leaving us with three movies we can appreciate over and over again throughout the coming years. The only problem I have with Scream 3 is the fact that it looked and sounded like a movie, whereas the original had enough of a hold on reality to make the experience seem like something at least ... The original chucky film and still the best. I first watched it when I was 9 and it was an instant hit. I recently bought it on DVD and I still think it's an old classic. It would have been great as a stand alone horror film, but childs play 2 and 3 and the bride and seed of chucky films were taking the whole chucky saga too far.

I love these movies, some of the best Horror around.
BUT THESE FILMS ARE STILL CUT.. the running time given here and on the box is wrong, these times are the American edtions, if you watch the films you will see they are shorter than the time given on the box, altogether around 30 minutes in total {4/5 minutes each film}.
Plus there is no three-d glasses..

Halloween is arguably one of the greatest horror movies ever made. To attempt to re-make, or "re-imagine" it, is doomed from the outset. When it was first announced that the film would be re-made I was sceptical, but still intrigued to see the end result. Sadly, what has been made is a deeply depressing and offensive film.
The film starts with an unnecessarily long back story to establish why Michael Myers ended up as a deranged serial killer. Part of the appeal of the original is the fact that the viewer is thrown straight into the story and, not knowing what made him into the killer he has become, makes him more frightening. To add more layers to the character simply ends up diluting a lot of the fear that was felt 20 odd years ago. The same ... Read More:

A new Chucky doll is created, using the mold from the previous doll as a base to create it. Its new creators are insistent that Chucky be covered up to protect their image. Andy Barclay, (Alex Vincent) is now is foster care with the Simpsons, Joanne, (Jenny Agutter) husband Phil, (Geritt Graham) and foster child Kyle. (Christine Elise) As Chucky finds Andy with his new family, Andy begins to form a brother/sister relationship with Kyle while Phil begins to wonder about Andy's sanity. As Chucky follows Andy to school, he kills his teacher and sets up Andy as the culprit. Worried that it is indeed Chucky doing the killing, Andy tries to convince Phil and Joanne that it's not him, but only Kyle believes him. Once they both know for sure, they try to tell their parents, but Chucky ... Read More:

I remember way back in the 90's when this movie was pulled from the shelves for being a video nasty when the government decided to make its second raid attempt on horror movies due to real life violence! Turned out to be utter bollocks. This movie is rated 18 unlike the others which are 15...for the reason that is unclear. It is easily the weakest of the sequels and its not really gory either. If it wasnt for Chucky still been on top form here then this movie would have failed utterly so on that basis we can be thankful that one person cared about this movie out of the strobble actors. (Keep an eye out for Andrew Robinson as the psycho hair cutter in this movie, hes great)

Halloween is regarded by many as the greatest horror film of all time and although I don't agree it is the greatest horror of all time (in my opinion the greatest is The Shining), I do agree that it is an amazing film. Halloween goes to show that you don't need a huge amount of blood and gore or a enormous budget for a film to a top class horror flick.

This film truly is what gripping horror is all about. When I first saw it my reaction was the same as when I saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Both films were very low budget and both films have a real rawness to the camerawork and acting due to the lack of budget and acting experience. This does not detract from the film - if anything it makes even the most implausible idea real.
The stunning use of various innovative camera techniques by Raimi and the fact that you never actually see the `evil dead' that possesses the actors adds to the overall atmosphere of horror. At first I admit I did find it a tad extreme (the pencil through the ankle being a scene I found too sick - and who could forget the violation-by-tree scene - yuck!). I found after initially watching the film ... Read More:

I loved the first Hellraiser when it first came out in 1987.
On repeated viewings it's flaws became all the more apparent, but because of it's cult appeal and personal nostalgia value it has remained a grotesque favourite of mine.
Now whereas I appreciate the fact that films 2 and 3 are indeed splendidly uncut, the first film doesn't seem any different from my video edition.
During the 'story so far' section at the beginning of Hellbound, and the international trailer as well, we get to see the uncut destruction of Frank. But it isn't like this in the first film. Mind you this is just a niggle in what is otherwise a good box set, and considering I managed to obtain it for a very small price from elsewhere (sorry Amazon) it is still worth owning.
I won't bother going ... Read More:

Friday the 13th is a pretty good slasher flick. It has a solid story, creative deaths (arrow through Kevin Bacons throat), evil killer and girls running round with almost no clothes on!
Yes, the film is incredibly cheesy, dated and the acting is pretty bad (with the exception of Betsy Palmer), but overlook that and you will see a hugely enjoyable horror classic.
