Upto now I have quietly enjoyed the first 3 movies although they were nothing special. In previous reviews I gave all of them 3/5 and to be honest up until the final 20 minutes I was about to award the same for 'the Goblet of Fire'. The finale' certainly makes this film and we see Lord Voldermort at his evil best. Actually, it is a darker more absorbing film than the others and carries on in a similar vien to 'The Prisoner of Askaban'. The downside to this film is that it does drag on for a bit but that doesnt really bother you until you watch it again. For your children, they will find this scarier than the others .... but not too scary. Enjoyable for kids, enjoyable for adults.

I must say that I have always been a Tom & Jerry fan, so it was long overdue for me to start owning the collection. I bought Volumes 2 & 3 at the same time as getting this one, and despite any editing and overdubbing, I still enjoy settling down to a couple of hours fun entertainment from these timeless characters. My little toddler son also enjoys the Tom & Jerry cartoons - and it takes a lot to get him to sit still for a few minutes - he really seems to like the mouse character as he squeals with delight and claps his hands. Good DVD, would recommend this to all fans, old and young alike.

My MP Ann Cryer is in this film as an extra.
One of the best childrens films ever made in the UK. Jenny Agutter recently made another version ( her third; she was in the BBC serial of the same book prior to this version) this time playing the mother. However it was not as good and lacked the charm of Lionel Jeffries version.

I just watched this the other day, for old times sake. It was brilliant - better than I remembered. Whoever said that you can outgrow disney couldn't have been more wrong. I laughed and laughed along with my friend, and even if we were laughing at new found jokes, it didn't matter. It's definately worth buying. But if you're older, watch it with a friend to make it more enjoyable.

A Very good film but like other reviewers have said the advertising campaign, even the cover art are and were very misleading making you think that this would be a fantasy film full of strange creatures, magic and fairy dust.
It is not that at all but rather an emotional tale depicting the friendship and bond between 2 children and the imaginary world in which they create, along with dangerous imaginary creatures and some good sfx when they are used.
However the real danger is not something imaginary or mythical and the circumstances shown are very sad- although a bit abrupt and mis-jointed.
May be a bit upsetting for younger viewers, and it probably won't hold their attention for very long as there are no fairy tale creatures, my 5yr old loves this film and ... Read More:

The Little Mermaid is one of my favourite films of all time, i am 19 years old now and to be honest it has not lost any of its beauty over the thousands of times i have watched it. ironically the original film was released in cinemas the same summer i was born, so who knows maybe it was meant to be. Of course the story is legendary, the young mermaid who falls in love with a human prince and sacrifices everythign she holds dear to be with him. Disney's film does somewhat depart from the Hans Christian Andersen classic, especially considering that Ariel survives in the end and has a happy ending, in the true Disney tradition whereas Andersen's mermaid died in self sacrifice. however i dont think i could have watched someone as courageous as Ariel dies, it would have been too heartbreaking. ... On this occasion I found myself liking the movie more than the book. What stood out for me as a child was the wolf figure who stated at the end of the film this startling notion that people who forgot their dreams and lost their hopes were easy to control and who ever has the control has the power ... I wondered how that could come about. Now I see that behind the film was possibly a critique on our modern standard of living and the world of Fantasia, a world of the spirit, imagination and dreams does not want to allow it's self to be usurped by mans casual disregard for those qualities. The film asserts that real freedom is the freedom of the mind and to have self belief in the face of astonishing obstacles is the only way to move forward. This is a modern day fairy tale which I believe has ... Read More:

This film is odd. Think of Desperate Housewives. Think of Pinnochio. Think lame love triangle. Think tortured genious. Then mix in Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, and you've got yourself an incrediby moving film you just won't be able to get out of your head for days afterwards. I don't know enough about this film to give it full justice in a review, but I will say that I put off watching this film for many years, and probably would have for many years more had my friend not leant me the DVD, and that's a choice I highly regret. A must see film for everybody, yes it's odd, quirky + off-beat but it's humour and heart and also undeniable. Excellent.
