It is not a recent film, indeed. The Twin Towers are still standing. We are entering the profiling era and it was tempting for criminals to return the favor, though they have always done that. They here profile the police and their investigative methods. If you satisfy the police's way of thinking you will go through their net with no difficulty. You just have to convince the cop that a certain criminal does not exist, that this criminal projects you in some kind of legend or saga, is a boogeyman under the bed or in the closet. If the cops are convinced that this boogeyman is a pure collective invention, some folklore in another word, they will just shrug their shoulders and consider the one who is telling the story is, like all the others, ... Does anybody know what is on Disc 2? I suspect there might be some extras and I am hoping one of which is the documentary Shadowing the Third Man, but would like to know for sure before I buy it. Shame that Amazon is sometimes so lax about product descriptions.
I have watched this film five or six times on an old VHS version and every time I watch it, I discover something new and enthralling. The film is superb, bigger than life and definitely one of the greatest ever made!

Bob Pecks gripping performance in Edge of Darkness has stayed in my mind ever since it was first broadcast. I have always been transfixed and absorbed by this powerful story. From the pen of Troy Kennedy Martin, the genius direction of Martin Campbell, the Cinematographic magic of Andrew Dunn and the haunting inevitability depicted in the music score by Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton. I watched the repeats and now bought the DVD set. This set new standards for stylish and gritty British Drama. How terribly sad that Bob Peck is no longer with us. With equally brilliant performances from all cast including Jo Don Baker, Charles Kay, John Woodvine and Zoe Wanamaker, It will be watched time and again in years to come and still have the same impact.

Do me a favour, I cannot believe that this film has such high aclaim. It fails to draw you in and get in touch with any of the characters. I have already wasted 2 hours of my life watching this drivel so I dont want to waste any more time even talking about it. This should have been a straight to video film.

After watching the first series, I thought I was prepared for the 2nd. With the cliff-hanger last episode of the first series, I was glad I had already bought the second. But things become more complicated in personal lives, "spy" lives, and just plain spying. It started very strongly and promised to be the equal or better than the first series. Episode 5 is by far the best episode of any series I have ever seen. I was literally on the edge of my seat for all 59 minutes. In some ways it isn't fair to compare the rest of the series after that mind blowing episode. But after that, some of the episodes just did not have the quality of the original series. The stories were not quite as tight and the edgy feel, not there. Possibly new writers were not as familiar ... Read More:

first of all, i am a massive x files fan. one of my all time favourite shows, and was really looking forward to this.
first of all, it is generally great to see mulder and scully back together again. both duchovney and gillian anderson are superb, and their on screen chemistry is like they've never been away and is worth watching for that and that alone. it is generally well acted, though xzbit or whoever is a bit weak, well made and creepy, and i had to restrain myself from cheering when i heard that theme tune at the start, and billy connoly pretty much steals the film. but, and this is a very big but, the plot is weak. poor, in fact. a massive dissapointment. was great to see skinner, but was dissapointed that we didn't get to see doggett and reyes. were ... I liked this film when I first saw it and now I have changed my mind with repeated watching. Like all Tarantino films, the dialogue between characters is unnatural. It feels like one person talking to themselves. The characters all talk in this faux intelligent geeky way about tiny things and there is no discernable differences between outlook or delivery of the characters words. The story doesn't hang together very well and the use of celebrity cameos is just celuloid cronyism. I fell for the hype, save your time and money and don't buy into this trash. Travolta is a fake, Jackson can't act, QT is annoying, Thurman is lovely, Keitel is cheesey and not at all hard like he makes out. There is too much wrong with this film to call it a classic. It's silly. At least Tom ... Read More:
