The Lives of Others is a great movie, but I can't rate it a masterpiece. On the plus side, the director has a total command of the medium, he knows how to make a suspenseful, thoughtful, entertaining movie, that holds the interest of the audience even at a running time that exceeds 2 hours. What's more, the acting is uniformly extraordinary. Let's talk now about the main problems I see with this film. The emotional heart of the movie is when the Stasi officer in charge of spying the playwright and his girlfriend, a very tough and experienced individual who presumably has worked in many similar cases before, decides instead to protect them. Why he would do that, risking an end to his career and even a charge of treason?. Though his motivations are not ... Read More:

So many comic book films are created with the studios forcing it into a lower certificate by cutting various scenes out. This was shown clearly with the Daredevil Directors Cut being so much darker than the original that it was an entirely new film!
Thankfully this movie did not suffer from that fate. Clearly the director has been given a free reign on the movie and as such he has created an authentic Iron Man, and I am pleased that Robert Downey Jr has nailed the character so well. The comedy is refreshing and the action is superb but the story is also excellent, something that every good movie needs.
Oh, and watch the scene after the credits.....interesting!

There are absolutely ZERO subtitles in this box set. Be them english or otherwise. I found the series to be average and the acting really poor. But if you've nothing to do at least it's worth the £9,98 I payed for it but no more!!!

I was given this as a present recently, and i have to admit it never really appealed to me as i am a huge fan of Scrubs and always maintained it was the best programme on television....How wrong was i.
After watching Grey's anatomy season 1 i have become totally addicted and have recently purchased season 2 from amazon.co.uk (brilliant service!) I am also currently awaiting the arrival of Seasons 3+4.
In a nutshell if you like scrubs and house md you'll love this, it's basically a combination of both! However T.R Knight is not great but the rest of the cast make up for this, especially Sandra Oh and Ellen Pompeo.

Foret 24 or Lost or ANYTHING that's ever been on TV, video/DVD or in cinema. The Shield simply is the BEST THAT'S EVER BEEN FILMED. Also I have never seen a series maintain its high quality over six seasons. Although not as intense as season 5 - my personal favorite DESPITE BEING CUT - season 6 rocks. With Whitaker down Chiklis must face his worst enemy who is within the team. Season 6 starts out slowly, but strikes hard. A MUST BUY! I don't know whether the UK version is cut or not, but I bought it and watched it, and didn't care if it was cut. Everything you need to see is here.
Chiklis and ALL the other cast deliver striking performances, the writers are just fantastic and unlike other series you don't get unnecessary episodes just to fill up the total no. of a season. Ok ... Read More:

It took "Once" sometime to grow on me but by the end of the film I was wishing it would go on for much longer than it's allotted 84 minutes. "Once" is a modern day musical set amid the Dublin underclass. A part time busker meets a Czech immigrant flower girl who happens to be a keen pianist. Together they share a tentative platonic romance ,form a band and cut a disc in a recording studio. The busker is nursing a broken heart from a previous relationship while the girl has an estranged husband in the Czech republic, the father to her little girl. The love story is poignant, yet unfulfilled, but the highlight of this film is the music, slightly irritating at the start of the film but magnificent by the end. Highly recommended.

The central premise of this series is rather weak (ie that a young lawyer is employed by a highly successful law firm just because she knows someone central to a big case) but, as with the first series of 24, the first half of this series is a thrill ride. The makers have used a clever plot device whereby most of the action takes place in retrospect but every now and then the action switches to the present day (filmed in a dark and grainy style) leaving you hungry to see how the characters end up as they do. But, as with the first series of 24, as the series progresses the twists and turns become more and more rediculous and harder and harder to accept until by the very end you really don't care what happens as long as it happens quickly.
The writers of the original series of ... Read More:
