I'm trying to get fit after having a baby a year ago and thought I'd try a workout DVD to get myself going. Davina McCall seems to have fronted quite a few recently and she's looking pretty fit, so here goes... Anyway, this exercise programme is divided into three thirty minute workouts, which seek to tone and work every muscle in your body, so far so good. The first workout, 'the pump' is interval cardio training mixed with loads of lunges, squats and abdominal exercises and although I walk everywhere, the lunges and squats were *really* difficult and I felt it for the next few days. The second workout is called 'cardio box' and it's a mixture of cardio and kickboxing moves, which are pretty fab. The third and final one, 'core stability' ... Read More:

I bought this dvd after reading the other reviews on this site, & after hearing a lot about Tae Bo. I was a little worried about trying the Tae Bo dvd's as it always looked very hard, the sort of thing only the very fit would go form. I tried it and I have to say its brill!!! If you want a fun / toughish workout then this is the one I recommend. And if, like me, you enjoy kicking and punching - then this is definately the one!!
The Tae Bo Energize dvd is split into seperate sections.
Introduction Section: Billy Banks shows you the moves very slowly& explains everything.
Beginners Workout: The beginners workout is quite energetic and he literally launches right into the routine. There's lots ... Read More:

This is my second day with this DVD. I have very short attention span and I dont like plain exercise as it bores me. I also dont like anything too advanced and too challenging that it is hard to get hang of. This DVD works for someone like me. I found it just challenging enough to not turn me off. I also have poor coordination and thank goodness Fleur's routines are merciful. I think this is the best way to exercise. Something between real dance and aerobics. If someone taped me dancing around it would probably make top funniest home videos, but at least its fun. :o)

I have had this video for some time but only thought of reviewing it after buying a couple of very inferior yoga videos by other people.
Barbara Currie really is great - yes, she does have a leotard with a belt, one armed outfits, etc, but a) she looks fabulous for however old she is and b) she praises you so much it's quite an ego boost doing the video - "You're doing jolly well.." and so on.
Seriously, these are very clear and easy to follow, they are really designed to help you to progress, not to show off how cool or alternative the yoga teacher is, and while they are fine for beginners, you can progress quite far with them as she does more advanced versions of poses.
I just wish she would produce some new and ... Read More:

Definitely recommend this DVD. Give it a go, for the price, you certainly can't go wrong.
Loads on it to play with, if you don't feel like working too hard but stressed after a hard day at work, you can just to the cool down. It feels fantastic. Has really made me keen and I love working with the ball.
Brilliant for toning, I've been doing it for a few weeks and have had plenty of comments that I look firmer and toned.
If you need to buy a ball, remember to get the right size for your hight! This is very important. When you sit on the ball, your knees should not be higher than your seat or hips.

Be warned - the format is not dvd, it has more in common with video. So the teaching part is a single section and you have to run through it again and again to find the form that you want to focus on.
Any benefit derived from the dvd will be outweighed by the frustration of trying to locate a particular section.

I brought this DVD several weeks ago and feel like it is working already. The thing I like most is how it is broken up into 10min segments so you can alternate, so as not to loose interest, or if you are short on time you can do just one or two segments. Only downside is in each segment the routine is done twice which can be repetative. But would recommend for beginners and it is great if you don't have much room to 'prance' about.

I bought this DVD together with Suzanne Deason's "Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss" DVD, but with no prior experience to Pilates. As much as I raved about the other DVD, I actually preferred this one in terms of seeing very rapid results if you follow the workout on a regular basis.
It is paced well, so I found I wasn't getting bored, or getting confused by the change in positions. I really liked the fact you can either watch the two modified versions of the exercises either alongside the original position or seperately - I found it easier to focus when I had the fully modified version on its own, yet the combined version allows you to see how each modified pose relates to the original.
The workout lasts for just under an hour, and if full effort is ... Read More:

I buy a lot of exercise DVDs, but found this workout very, very disappointing. In fact it is the only time I have stopped using a DVD out of boredom after a couple of weeks.
Firstly, I definitely wouldn't buy this DVD if you think it will teach you to Latin dance. It will teach you the odd step, but no more. I haven't danced a lot, but I have watched and done enough to know that there is a technique to do all of these steps correctly that Lilia doesn't bother to teach. For example, she does a Samba routine based around Voltas and the Samba bounce, but never tells you how to do either move properly. Whilst this might sound fussy, it is only by doing the steps correctly that the routine looks right and you get the most benefit out of it.
She whizzes you through a demonstration ... Read More:
