I bought this instead of getting a CD player for my car, since most of my music is on my Creative Zen player anyway, and have had problems from day one. The sound from the tape itself is loud, the sound cuts out every so often while the tape clicks and makes loud sounds (maybe trying to switch sides), and sometimes after cutting out it comes back at a completely different volume, which could actually be pretty dangerous when it suddenly blasts out the speakers at twice the volume, as well as always having to adjust the volume instead of watching the road. As I work from home, I needed a way to connect my work laptop and my personal PC to one monitor/keyboard/mouse. This product does the job. No software to install, no power supply needed - just plug in and go. You switch between PCs by simply tapping the scroll lock key twice in quick succession. I've been using it for over a year now with no issues at all. The only drawback is that it uses VGA and PS2 connectors. Fortunately my monitor supports VGA and DVI (as do both PCs) so no problem there. I use a PS2 keyboard and mouse, which connect directly to the switch, and I connect the PC (USB) ends using PS2 to USB adapters (see the Belkin USB PS/2 Adapter offered on Amazon - it works a treat).

After buying a useless KVM from ebay a few years ago, I had some trepadation about this unit. I am however, very pleased so far.

The USB switching can take a few seconds sometimes, but this is small price to pay.

I have not yet tried the audio sharing but the video output is identical to what it was before the switch was fitted, and this is with an 8 foot vga cable I have to use on one pc.

It feels quite solid and well made.

I have a modern PC and an IBM thinkpad laptop, standard hardware, but I cant get this device to work. The hotkey combinations "beep" but dont actually switch between devices, so I have to use the manual switch button which is too small and tricky to find amongst all the cables.

So, not well designed, not working, and going back to Amazon today! Perhaps I am ulucky and got a faulty unit? Will try a different brand next time.

Fair enough, it does work in as much as it *can* switch between two sets - when it's working properly. 'Features' hot-key switching? Try *only*supports* hot-key switching. I could find no physical way to switch computers. That wouldn't have mattered much, except that the hot keys stopped responding within 15 minutes - and with no physical switch (unless it's well-hidden), I was stuck - I couldn't switch computers. The whole point of having this thing was so that I didn't have to keep going to the back of the two PCs and messing around with cables. This doesn't cut it!

I now have both my PC's and my XBox360 connected to one monitor and monitor speakers.

For the XBOX360 the switch over is manual, but for the PC no problems with hot-key switching.

All the cables I needed came with the unit.

I did have to download the lastest driver (2.XX)from Edimax website for the switch box (which showed VISTA driver only) but works fine on my XP OS. Now I get the full functionality as shown/described in the manual.

It works great and I am very pleased.

Only one down point, ergonomics... It would be more pleasing to the eye and practicle if the wires only came out on three sides or better one, (the back) rather than all sides as it is a bit of an octopus with legs to ... Read More:

I bought this having read online, the official site, that it was Vista compatible and that it worked as an Access Point (Which is what i was after).
However upon receiving it the problems began. The software wouldn't install or run, you have to download it off the site which is a faff. Then i found out that only 2 out of the 8 functions work with Vista - Access Point not being one of them.
The only reason i gave this 3 stars is because if you have XP everything will work fine, but Vista users beware.
