Belkin Surgemaster 8 Way 2m Cable Phone & Modem Protection

According to their customer services department, Belkin used to provide a BT to BT telephone cable with this. But they don't any more. This cable is essential because you can't buy them. All you can buy is BT to RJ11 (the little one - looks like a modem plug). BUT, if you buy an RJ11 to BT adaptor to try and fix the problem, it crosses the connections, so that doesn't work, either. The only way is to either buy a BT to RJ11 crossover cable and one adaptor. Or to buy an RJ11 to RJ11 cable and TWO adaptors.

I spent a whole afternoon trying to sort this one out. Half an hour on to Belkin tech support. 20 minutes waiting for their sales dept to deal with my call (they never did). Another ten minutes onto tech support again and then ... Read More:

What can I say? This does the job. The unit is well constructed and has presented no problems after 6 months use.

I bought three of these and they each give slightly different readings (this includes simple readings such as current and voltage). For example, one shows a steady 236 and the other closer to 246 as the voltage for the same socket. I suppose it doesn't really matter too much. The other one (prodigit 2000MU) I have I think is more accurate and also works at lower wattage where this one doesn't work at all.

I'm not sure how accurate these things are but there are a few other design faults. One is that the timer stops itself when the device stops or draws less than about 10 watts of power (so you need to time things yourself for things like fridges). This item FAILED to protect my equipment during a recent electrical storm. I now have a PC which is a brick.

Now I will be trying to find out whether the connected equipment warranty is worth the paper it is written on. I don't fancy having to send my computer off to Holland to have it inspected before they will even decide whether to pay my claim.

I think I will be looking for another equipment provider.

I have had a couple of Belkin units, including this one, fail to protect my equipment. Once a PC just died one day, and I found burn marks on the motherboard PSU connector. The other time with this exact unit there was a lightning strike nearby, and the computer PSU was fried along with my monitor and HiFi amplifier.

Both times I tried to claim from Belkin on their warranty. They make it very hard, and you have to send them the damaged equipment. In both cases they at first refused to pay up, but eventually I got some compensation out of them. Nothing like the value of the items though, only their "second hand" value which for Belkin means car boot sale prices.

I now have a Tripp-Lite and touch wood have no had any problems.

This really is a handy little addition to any trip. It feels very sturdy and well built. Includes surge protection and an LED indication to show its working which is a real bonus. The adapter covers all destinations and is actually very small which means it doesn't take up much room in the wash bag or case.

ok now to fully test this i guess you need to be struck by lightning. but to be fair my computer psu did blow out before i had this and it was down to a "surge" apparently, so since ive had this no problems.if you use your p.c. a lot buy one, sometimes its hard to tell what caused your p.c. to go down, so this will cross off one cause. plus theres like 6 plugs so its handy for your computer.

excellent for computers/game consoles/tv's etc etc.
