The Core2Quad Q6600 is actually available in two revisions - the older B3 stepping and the newer, more efficient G0 stepping. I'm hoping by now the one Amazon is selling is the newer G0. I've had my Q6600 a while now, so unfortunately I have the older B3 which uses more power and runs hotter, but I'm still more than happy with it and have overclocked it to 3ghz for a bit of a speed boost.
The Q6600 is an LGA775 CPU that requires a modest 1066mhz FSB, unlike some of the newer quads that need 1333mhz or 1600mhz, so it will run happily on most chipsets from P965 or Nforce 6 or later.
If you are debating whether to get a quad core CPU or a dual core, the increase in multi-threaded software over the past few months should ... Read More:

I would recommend this laptop to any person that either needs a laptop for studying, working or travelling (or a mixture of all three).
I currently use it for studying, and as I study off the island, I needed a good, light laptop for travelling. I would chose it over other Dell and Sony laptops as the amount of unwanted software on a Samsung is limited, no unnecessary programs taking up disk space!
It's surprisingly quick, and the wireless can hit some high speeds, comparable to my home PC (cable).

The Sony Vaio Z11-WN/B is a beautifully designed, fully functional modern gadget.
The initial impression upon delivery is, "It's tiny" - and it's still in the box! This minuteness is even further enhanced when you see the laptop in the flesh. The Z11 was bought to replace an aging Dell D400 (which itself was no monster) but the difference between a 12" 4:3 screen and the new Sony 13.1" 16:9 screen is immediately obvious: the Sony is so much narrower top-to-bottom. You wonder if the screen is going to be high enough to view anything properly, but it's okay (that is, we will get used to the marked reduction in screen height).
In spite of the good specification the Z11 seems a bit slow, surprisingly. Perhaps the low video ... Read More:
