Purchased these units (2 sets actually) after having used a friend's radios (same model) in the French Alps where they worked particularly well (crystal clear reception with users on opposite side of a mountain.)

Particularly impressive is the clear voice quality - much better than other models I have tested (and I've tested a lot!)

Contrary to other reviewers, I've found the range good for this model (good in mountains), although all users of any 2-way radios need to be aware that range is always restricted in built-up areas or if one user is inside a building.

IMHO they are difficult to beat at the price.

the range said on the packet is 5 km but it does not work after 1 km what kind of product is this i made a big mistakee buying it. nd even its not charging!!!!!

I have used these radios for about 14 days and although they are useful I must add they use up batteries very fast indeed.I have put Duracell in (not cheap) and they are flat after 2 days.I switch both off when not in use,but 2 days seems to be the best I can get out of them..R J Naish

Bought these for use on holiday to save cash on mobile phone bills. We used them between two cars whilst out driving. The advertised 3km range is widely optimistic - we found they worked for about 400m if the other car was in plain view without obstruction. They probably work much better out of the car and in open space but haven't tried that so couldn't comment.

Having said that they are pretty cheap, have a very good battery life and come with a neat desktop charger/holder.

DORO - WT87 Walkie Talkie

I already knew this before purchasing, but it seems that another reviewer did not. When it says it will reach 7-10KM, this means on flat terrain with NOTHING in the way. I used these when travelling to and in France in a car convey of 3 cars.

It was extremely helpful and buying a second set and having them on the same channel works aswell, brilliant.

Having said this, I dropped one on the floor, perhaps from a height of 3 feet (max.) and it started crackling, but only when nobody was talking through it or to it. Strange, but slightly annoying. Fortunately, we had 4 when we only needed to use 3, so it worked out fine.

Seemed to have a long battery life, 5 or 6 hours and it was still working fine.

Good little radios- robust, smart looking (as long as you don't mind it looking like a shower gel bottle) and easy to use.
The loop is handy for putting a lanyard or clip on. It remembers the volume and channel settings when you switch it off.
The speech is clear, just remember to key up, count to three and then start talking or you'll only get half the sentence.

On the down side, the optional 12v dc charger has not materialised as of yet, which is a shame as I bought these to use on a narrowboat and being able to charge it off the dc socket would of been a godsend. Take the range with a pinch of salt but they are fine for afew hundred yards.
All in all they do what it says on the box .
