The unit is a massive saving over the canon item, it is possibly not as good but for my requirements it's quite adequate. I have to say though that the instruction book leaves a lot to be desired as it does not indicate how to fit the transmitter battery the right way round (+ to the right) and fitting the carry strap entails dismantling the unit (warranty problem?)
the unit bears no marking whatsoever for the correct battery polarity but once the unit is opened + and - can be seen on the circuit board.
Overall it works and does the job I bought it for and at the right price.

Yes only one button works for the Nikon, but the genuine remote for the Nikon is only a shutter release and far mor exspensive.
