There are rival products that have better storage capacity, some sound better or have the ability to handle a wider range of file formats. None of them have the killer apps, user interface, supreme build quality and style of the ipod touch. Nothing comes even close to toppling this beauty!

Having spent the last lord knows how many month saying that i couldn't justify buying an ipod touch ,and anyway it will probably be a pain to transfer all my stuff to it,i gave in ,,,,and i am sooooooo glad i did!!!!!

It arrived just before my lunch break at work , so i just had to go home to charge it etc so i could spend the evening putting the contents of my ipod mini onto it (plus all the stuff that wouldn't fit on my ipod mini (only 4gb)),,,,,well drove home(just under 10 mins) plugged in into the laptop followed a few prompts and before i knew it i was back at work having completed a 1 hour lunch break (and no i wasn't late back) ipod touch in hand and fully loaded .

Inexpensive, even allowing for the postage, and works perfectly with my Sony A805. Bought a second one for my daughter's A816 and this is as perfect as the first. No need to keep the computer running or take it on holiday with you !!!!

The first one I had of these lasted a month, if that. Then the screen went and was only readable in a very dark room. Then it just wouldn't turn on (or the screen went completely, but I couldn't even get it to play music like it was previously).

So it was replaced with the same thing and I had the identical problem repeat itself within a week. Usless. Oh and those silicone cases are terrible and rip easily.

Not worth the hassle.

The good: I've had about 6 Archos players with various accessories over the years. There always seems to be nothing quite like them and in that way they are excellent. The 605 has a great display (I think the 504 actually looks better, but it is lower resolution and highly reflective) and what it does it does well. With a 160GB drive it holds all my music collection and a few movies for the train.
The bad: Every player I have had has had a problem (various bugs and faults) and every time Archos support has been appauling. I could write for hours on the imcompetence of their French technicians and the uselessness of the support infrastructure. One quick current example: the support number given on the website doesn't work. Yay.

This product exceeded my expectations - it was simple to set the clock and tune in stations; it has good sound quality; and isn't too big. For the price, this is a great buy.

I bought the 160gb version that was supposed to have manual and reg instructions on the drive. not there no help on archos site. after a week of trying eventually found how to purchase plug in for web browser and set up archos account. gradually learnt how to use it. the touch screen is NOT finger friendly, it's slow but audio sound is great through h/p and even a £3 lead into my amp. Began to fall in love with the ability to watch video streamed from youtube n google video as I walked around the house etc and went to bed each night streaming films. however they always cut out after ten minutes thought i was being dumb. again no help on site then found out by trial and error it needed to be plugged in to ac adaptor not only when synching with wmp11 but to watch streamed ... By far the best player I've used but it's not perfect!

Unlimited storage! Ok so NOT unlimited but if you run out of space just pop a microSD card in the slot. Since 4Gb cards are about 7 quid? That means ALOT of storage.

Easy to use user interface, even my girlfriend can use it ;)

Good video playback but not perfect. A decent size screen for watching re-runs of south park on the way to uni :) But it breaks up the vids into 15 min chunks, the player automatically connects them all together but there is a noticeable pause between chunks.

Customisable EQ; I'm not sure if the Ipod has this function. But its something I've never seen before on any player I've had, you usually get the presets: rock, pop etc but depending on ... Read More:

This is an excellent little player however there is a known problem with playing Windows Media Videos. It won't play any videos that are encoded as WMV8 files, however WMV7 and WMV9 files are fine.

Don't get me wrong, I think that this player is very small and for the size, plays for quite a while. I really like the way you can bookmark during a movie so that you can come back to resume at the same place, however you can only bookmark once during a movie. The music player is easy to use and sections your music into catagories for you so you can go to artist, or album etc with no problems.

I have had issues with the volume playing in public areas as you can sometimes find it hard to hear with the ear phones that are provided but if you buy some headphones ... Read More:
