Bought this camera recently only to find it was completely innapropriate for my purposes. I had intended it to be a public access webcam and after reading in the product description that I could "leave it wide open for the world to see" I assumed this would be possible. And it is, sort of, as long as you ignore the following points:

1. It will only allow 10 people to view the feed at once.
2. there is no way (without a lot of hassle and work arounds) to embed the feed to your own web page, You can only view it via its built in administration page.
3. You can't allow unrestricted access so it will always prompt for a username and password.

I ordered this laptop for my wife on the 1st November 2007- it lasted seven months before it became increasingly unreliable and finally gave up the ghost completely mid- May. Acer customer help is useless, they do not supply a recovery disc with the system. The recovery software resides on a 10GB partition on the hard disc- which had become corrupt- the dreaded 'BOOTMGR not present' message- seems to be common with Vista systems. I stupidly upgraded the memory early on in an attempt to make the computer run at a decent speed instead of a 386 with a limp!- that was a mistake, it invalidates the warranty. Very cheap for the advertised functions.
I had a lot of difficulty connecting this camera to the network. When it finally connected, I was quite pleased with the results but the camera failed within the first twenty-four hours and a full reset was required. The camera failed on two more occasions within the next 3 days and refused to be revived from the last failure. To give them their due, Edimax have been quite good, answering questions in very short time, even so, I would never buy another Edimax camera.

This product is adequate at best. It is easy to set up but due to the limited depression on the camera unit it was necessary to buy a flexible camera tripod to mount the unit on the side of the cot. The camera picture is ok, good enough to see whether your baby is in distress or not, even in a dark room. Unfortunately, due to interference on all three of the available wireless channels the audio monitoring is unbearable. Perhaps this is due to the wireless networks present where the system is operating and may not reflect everyone's experience. Still, despite these criticisms there is definitely peace of mind to be had from being able to easily see your baby without entering the room.

A good well built IP Camera which gives good night vision if used in conjuction with a IR Lamp. The Software and conection to the lan via cable is straight forward and easy to use. However :( Here is the disappointment the wireless interface is poor. I have yet to be able to connect this Camera wirelessly. Setup appears straight forward and there appears to be no reason why it shouldn't be seen by my network but to date I have had no joy. This is the second out of three IP Cameras by Linksys that has had this problem. Waiting for LINKSYS to come back to me with a hopeful solution. For the price I would look at the Panasonic BL-C30 Camera. Hope this helps
