"Apple vs. all other vendors" banter aside... this is a brilliant piece of kit.
I was on the lookout for a jukebox player seeing as I made the transition from casual listening to complete and utter audiophilia. Consequently, I began to rip mp3s at a high bit rate 320kbps; enjoying the greater sound quality of the music (couldn't believe what I had been missing)... Sounds amazing through my system. This led to my library size increasing almost four-fold. So my little 8GB Creative ZEN (the credit card sized unit) was no longer of favour (that even couldn't fit everything I had in my library, albeit at smaller file sizes/bit rates as well!).
And then there's this little beauty.
It accomodates to my huge library. ... Read More:

Creative ZEN 4GB MP3 Player
I bought this player to use for podcasts to make my long car journeys more tolerable. To my joy it is real easy to use for those less techy, the BBC radio web site has a podcast section and it has a button called 'zen' and one click and it down loads that pod cast to your MP3 player. The software for pod casts that comes with the zen is great, it is easy to load up on your computer, , it alows you to pick loads of podcasts, checks for updates and then it will synchronise the down loaded podcasts with your Zen. It does the same with all your music too. Top tip, you can buy a cheap plug in (on amazon) that connects to your Zen and sends out a radio signal which is picked up by your car radio or any other radio ... Read More:

I have to say I was shocked when I first saw the video quality on this little device - it really is crystal clear. There are other, cheaper, MP4 players on the market with a bigger screen but none have the quality this has.
The battery life is very good allowing me to watch several 2 hour long films without having to charge - something you'll be grateful for on a long-haul flight.
The video format has to be specifically MP4 but its easy to find programs to convert DVD's and such into this format so its not a problem.
Aside from video, the sound and music is brilliant both with the supplied in-ear headphones or with your own choice (a good set will bring out the best it can offer). Menus are easily navigated and playlists, ... Read More:

ipod shuffle is still an ipod but it lacks feature that are most mp3 players.
1. There is no display screen
2. There is no way to check the battery life
However the quality of the music is better that most mp3 players making it useful.
If you can extend your money buy a nano, classic or even a touch.

I bought my iPod touch last Christmas and fell in love with it immedietly. However... now, after just nine or ten months it has already started to 'play up'. It pauses randomly and sometimes i can see the time slider going through a song but no sound. i took it back to the apple shop, they put the new updates on it (free of charge i'd like to say ;)) but i still have the same problem i.e keeps pausing randomly.
i would suggest that you don't buy the iPod touch as i am completely convinced that mine will stop working altogether JUST after my one year gurantee runs out. proof of this: my friend and her sister both bought an iPod on the same day last year and just after their one year gurantee ran out... they both stopped working within hours of each other. many ... I can't help but ask: What does the 4th generation ipod nano have which makes it better than its predecessor?
The size and styling harks back to the much earlier ipod nano's. This was obviously something which apple then moved on from with the sleek but "chunky" styling of the 3rd gen. models.
Screen - On these 4th gen. versions, the screen is exactly the same dimensions as the previous model, except it is curved. I don't understand this - over the past ten years or so, all of our screens have been moving away from the curved thing, because we all know that curved screens = more reflection = less easy viewing. One of the style and practical features of all ipods was always the flat screen.
The "shake and shuffle" feature - which ... Read More:

They made ipods more techical over the years. When I first put my ipod in I was asked to create an itunes account which luckly I already had one so that was easy. They promised voice recording I don't see that on the menu of my ipod. Screen too small for video I don't know why nano went video anyway as the ipod classic can do that and it's better on it. I also didn't accept my ipod charger which worked on my 1st gen nano and even touch. This doesn't just apply to blue 8GB nanos, it applies to all 4th gen ipod nanos.

This iPod looked dodgy ever since it came out. It looks more or less a miniature version of the ipod classic. It's just £50 than a classic. This only store 8 GB while classic store 80 GB and it has no extra features whatsoever. Finally the 4th generation is out and that can do things the classic can't so don't buy this.
