On the outside this product seemed perfect for me: plently of memory, nice display screen and plenty of useful little functions as well as good reviews...

...and yes, it was good for a while. The initial reason for purchasing this was so I had all my music/photos, etc. in one easily accessible place...

...HOWEVER, I have had no end of annoying niggles with this product. In less than a month the menu button had broken and would continuously get stuck which meant I couldn't access what I needed on the player. The select button also broke which made selecting items that much harder. The player keeps freezing and the only way to get it semi-functioning again is to quite literally disable the battery as that's the only way ... Read More:

I am slightly disappointed with my new toy, I'll try and explain.

I'm a gadget freak! I buy things that I don't really need from time to time (I'm not the only one, right?).... but when I do fork out the best part of week's wage (after the plugins, docking stations etc) I get a little peeved when it doesn't live up to my expectations.

What's the problem? well, the main thing that bugs the hell out of me is Archos have upped the screen resolution on the 605 (great?!) and indeed it is a mighty nice resolution however they have somehow sacrificed colour saturation in the process. The 605 has a pretty 'washed out' look when viewing video content and there's no option to raise saturation levels either - everything I have viewed ... Read More:

I have tried to play Video and it only lasted 20 minutes. There is no specification for battery life for Video and I have contacted their support three times with no answer from them as to the battery life.

I've had my Archos TV+ 250gb for a few months now and the unit has seen daily use. I bought it as a media player/hard disc recorder so that I could record straight from my Freeview box and play mp3's without hooking up my laptop to the hifi.

There are a few problems with the Archos TV+

1) Almost everything needs a subscription: TV guide, internet, ability to play DVD's on your computer through the wifi/network, all the games, etc...

2) The Archos is supposed to be able to change channels on your freeview box - It can't do this with my Virgin Freeview box, or my sisters Philips Digi-box. With the Virgin, you can set a program reminder on the electronic guide, which will automatically change the channel - The Philips ... Read More:
