Snaps on in an instant, has edges and holes to allow all buttons to be pressed easily. Really well designed. The plastic appears thick & solid - perfect protection from scratches, drops and keys in your pocket etc.

I bought this to replace my ageing iPod. It was the 52 hours battery life that made me buy this, and the excellent reviews for sound quality, and range of formats.
The player itself feels nice and solid, and is well built. It's about 2cm thick, but easily fits into your pocket. The 52 hour battery life is pretty impressive. You can go for weeks without having to recharge the player. The display is sharp and clear, and syncing with a PC is easy. The sound quality is also far superior to my old iPod, even with my Shure earphones.
However, it does have some poor points:
The player does not readily play .m4a files. Most players, including other iaudio models, play .m4a files so why doesn't this one? You can ... Read More:

I agree with most of the reviews about the quality and featuresof the product, but mine has had problems which I have tried to fix with updates from the Cowan site. This has crated other faults , and their help site is as bad as it gets, an Internet based help desk, slow useless answers and overall no help,I am still struggling to get my unit working as it should.

I recently purchased a second Cowon D2, this time 16GB, after the screen broke on my 4GB model, ..my fault.
Purchasing a second one shows I really do value this product. I did check out reviews for other players, with an open mind, but the cowon's specs weren't matched.
For a start the screen is amazing (if only for the fact that you need to first convert videos to the 320x240 screen size, but the same goes for other players, although cowon's JetAudio software is very slow).
The screen resolution is amazing, has to be seen to be believed.
(Note that subtitles become unreadable at this screen size).
I've no problem with the GUI, as others have criticized. I suggest changing the wallpaper though, to a darker shade ... Read More:

Having owned one for a few weeks now, I feel obliged to add my own thoughts on this wonderful bit of hardware. Having pondered for a while over which PMP to buy (the choice being between the A3 or Archos' 605wi-fi) I finally took the plunge and opted for the Cowon. I arrived at my decision based on two things, firstly the reliability of the A3 and secondly the fact that it will play just about any file without wasting my time and effort converting stuff that already plays on my PC.
What I actually got was a lot more! The screen is bright, colours are great and the picture clairty is just breathtaking.
It's simplicity personified when it comes to loading files, just plug in the USB lead and drag and drop to your hearts content, create folders and ... Read More:

I was looking to replace my Ipod Nano 2nd gen. I never really liked it because I had an old Creative 30gb zen before that that had a much better battery and much better sound. I used till it died, which took 3 years of 30-35 hours a week use. Plus I hate iTunes so much I ended up paying for Anapod which is much much better!
Anyway I was unimpressed with the Ipods sound and battery life, with the zen I could listen all week without a recharge, half that for the nano. The only reason I got one was it was the best 8 gb flash drive mp3 player I could get at the time.
The battery life had started to drop meaning it was going to need replacing soon and the top was falling off, so it wouldn't lock all the time.
