I bought one of these for £100 from a catalogue and it has been nothing but trouble. The remote wont work anymore, if I put a blank disc in, it locks the machine up, last time I had to take it apart to get the disc out!
Never again would I buy one of these makes, everything I have ever had from Alba has been rubbish.

I bought this for my mum who is the other side of 80.
The reason I got it was because it is easily set up using the buttons on the front to play her favourite radio stations (press 1 for Radio 1, 2 for Radio 2, etc...)
Good clear sound quality for a kitchen radio, and most importantly the signal does not get affected by low flying aircraft (she lives near an airport).

I have owned this MP3 player for 8 months now. It is very easy to down load tracks, and very simple to use. There is no radio, as others have mentioned. It occasional freezes, but removing the battery sorts that out easily. The only problem I had is it refused to except any more the 500mb of tracks. In the end I had to download all the tracks back to my PC, then re-format the MP3 player, then reload the tracks. Now all is well, if you buy one format it first.
The headphone could do with being slightly longer as they have a string loop so you can wear it round your neck. The problem is the distance between the sring loop and the ear piece is not long enough so it keep pulling them out of your ears. Sound quality is not perfect, ... Read More:

Bought this dvd recorder as its was a cheap product for me to get my programs off of my sky+ This allows me to plug it into a scart socket, hit record and away it goes.
The one thing you need to remember is that it will only burn onto DVD+R and not DVD-R
As its a cheap unit it does look a bit plasticy with a giant bit on the front which i can see scratching quickly.
Apart from that, for the price you cant beat it and as something for backing up programs you can go wrong with it

ALBA MP3128ND1 Personal MP3 Player Must admit when I got this I was happy for the first 4 days of purchase only a few problems the sleek design means that it can drop out of your hand very easily what happened to me dropped it and parts went flying all over the place front of it came off like it was stuck with pva glue buttons were scattered all around and back panel came off. So I gave it the benefit of the doubt I got a refund and got a new one the one new that I got seemed to be going the job until the play button was not working after about 3 days of use I fixed it but the when you plug it in to your computer does not read :( so say if you want to buy something that u can listen to around and about the house this is for you or if it is like for ... This is a great value CD player, it looks good, is normal size, has repeat each track, or whole CD feature and random functions, sounds great, has a bass boost and a full volume range. You can also programme your favourite tracks in so it skips those you don't like. It is comfortable, shock resistant and has an option for rechargable batteries, or just listen from the mains supply. You have to press the stop button a few times to switch it off, but otherwise it is a great CD player. A brilliant buy.

Not sure what the other review was all about!!
Small, cheap, easy to use, does what is says on the box - works under all conditions - never turned off unexpectedly or skipped (difficult for solid state storage) when in use!
Playback can be set to play in order tracks are on the player or set to shuffle randomly - you choose, it doesn't make it up as it goes along.
My only gripe is with the earphones supplied (it could be my ears), but they just don't sit nicely, but of course you can change them.
For what it is - and the price, it does the job nicely - I would happily recommend it to anyone.

I too have experienced the skipping mp3 problem, however this only seems to happen on unfinalised multi-session cds. If you author a normal cd and finalise it (means you can't partially fill the cd then add more to it later) the mp3 function works fine.
As the unit works with rewritable cd's this isn't too much of a problem - I just use cd-rws, if I want to add to them I wipe the entire disk and start again rather than adding an extra session.
