Etymotic ER-6i Earphones - Black

After a couple of hours on the net looking at ear phones (it's difficult when you can't try them out),
I purchased the ER6I's. This was based on all the good reviews they were getting and I can completely go with that. Sound quality is fantastic - the bass can lack a little some times but that problem is easily overcome by adjusting the EQ setting on my pod. Cable noise can transmit into the ears as I use them in the gym quite a bit. Easily solved as the cable has a securing clip to stop it moving about. Quite a strange sensation when using as the sound seems to emit from within your head creating a very clever stereo effect. Buy some, you will not be disappointed - they are a quality product.

Etymotic ER-6i iIsolator In-the-ear Earphones

Just got these today. In a word, FANTASTIC. I bought them primarily because of the issues surrounding the volume cap imposed by the EU on the new iPod Classic. I found the volume pitifully poor and bought the Etymotics in an attempt to beef up the volume.
Having tried them this morning I can tell you that this has worked a treat. I had no problems fitting them into my ears...as a regular (i.e every night) wearer of ear plugs I found the foam tips to be the best. The much talked-about bass response was something I had no problems with and after road testing them for 5 mins I returned to my Sony MDR-EX71s for comparison. They were bassier but there is just NO comparison between the clarity of sound or the improved volume.

Etymotic ER-20 Earplugs

Bought a few pairs of these 18 months ago after noticing some ringing in my ears which is not going away. I can cope at the moment but I dread that it may get worse. I attend a lot of live gigs and don't want to stop. So I thought I would try some of these. I'm still on the first pair as they are re-useable They fit snuggly in the ears and sound levels are reduced depending on how deep you push them in and they seem to cope with even the noisiest surroundings. I bit of wax removal is required avery so often but I would not be without them now and make sure I take them anywhere which is likely to be nosy. It's just like turning the volume down on your MP3 or Hi-Fi and conversation can be heard although it is also at a lower level of volume. Recommended to anyone worried ... Read More:

These phones are designed to be inserted directly into the ear canal ( in fact if they are not then they will not work properly ) I experienced deafness (in one ear) due to ny naturally occouring wax being shunted onto my eardrum.5 days later and after a visit to my G.P.,applications of oil/peroxide and a syringing I am NOW able to report how disapointing this product actually is.They would appear to emmanate from the " Mr. Bean " school of design. They have replaceable "sound filters". I am puzzled as to WHY the sound needs filtering and I suspect their primary function is to keep wax away from the transducers.Both they and the silly little tool required for replacement will need careful manilulation given the almost microscopic dimensions of the filters themselves.The ... I bought these very expensive earphones after reading reviews on Amazon and doing a bit of research elsewhere with the sole purpose of having a good set of earphones that would be usable on the underground in London. These have been the most disappointing earphones I have ever bought. The biggest flaw is there is no bass. It does not matter what type of music you listen to there has to be balance, the earphones supplied with the apple ipod are better than these.
