Ordered this Sunday, when my old Thomson box suddenly packed up,(wouldn't come out of standby), and arrived yesterday, so full marks for service.
Set up so easy, just wire it up and switch on and just let it get on with it, doing its auto-search, etc. Now working fine.
I had been tempted by the dearer Philips, but lack of technical information and previous bad experience with Philips products meant otherwise. We already have a Goodmans box on our upstairs telly, years old and still going strong, so decided to stick with Goodmans, despite some of the negative reviews. Anybody's whose went wrong shortly after installation must have just had a bad experience.
For the money, it does every thing you want and ... Read More:

I bought this box after returning a Thomson one - it is a much better box for only £10 more!! Easy to set up, easy to use, instructions are easy to understand! Can record 2 channels at once - but you can only watch either of the 2 channels, but if your recording one you can watch any other channel. Looks pretty good too!!!

Allow me to ramble for a moment: I had a Panasonic Viera 42" plasma on order, then heard that standard def. broadcasts might be poor quality on such a large screen. Worried, I checked out this Goodmans unit, ignoring the pseuds and the physicists who say that it's technically not possible to get a better picture than the host TV itself.
Now, as it happens, the picture on the Viera is great whatever the source, but through the Goodmans on HDMI it is definitely, definitely (one more time:) definitely better - crisper, sharper, brighter, tonally superior... Just BETTER, alright?
I have never previously written a review on a site like this, but this Goodmans box deserves the plaudits. As long as you've got a HD-ready TV and ... Read More:

This is the only recorder I have ever had. I bought it to record occasionally and it has always done the job. Set up was pretty easy and the manual is very comprehensive. I have never had any problems with the quality of playback of DVDs or recording quality. I also plugged my external hard drive through it to play videos I had downloaded from the internet because my TV did not have AV input. The only limitation is that it will only use DVD+R or DVD+RW discs for recording. For non-experts like me it has does the job fine.
I've just read the other review and am sadly upset by it. Let's bore you to death first. A review is only any use if the person who writes it has had experience of buying duff items. At 59 I've bought a lot of things I regretted.
I bought my GHD8015f2 almost 2 yrs ago. It was an impulse purchase and the best thing I've ever bought. Why?
Well, it is simpler to use than my mobile phone. It does everything I want it to do without ever letting me down. the picture quality on playback is exactly the same as the original broadcast.
Noisy? When you press the RECORD button the hard disk kicks in and makes a whirring sound for about 3 seconds, the noise thereafter is no more than a VCR tape ... Read More:

Bad Points:
1) Right out of the box it booted so many times every day I lost count and hasn't stopped since.
2) It randomly loses sound or signal on all channels and must be turned off by the button on the machine then on again before it will work.
3) Sometimes it will suddenly give out a very loud static hiss that won't stop until you turn it off at the button on the machine then on again.
4) Our Matsui tv remote is also able to interfere with it so we must carefully aim the tv remote above the digital recorder or it will mess up recording/playback etc.
5) When pressing buttons on the digital recorder remote it will do the action of the button pressed previously a few times before it will do the action it's supposed to be ... Read More:

Down to silly money in Comet now (£29.99) because they only have an analogue tuner and, for them, they're now disposing of them as 'end or range' - but still great value for money.
