This product is good value for the money. Installation of a hard disk is a simple matter of unscrewing the knurled casing screws (good idea not to have screws not requiring a screwdriver), lifting the metallic cover, connecting the leads and fixing the HDD to the underside using the couple of supplied knurled screws.
I purchased two units and the fans on both were noisy. I took both out, removed the stickers on the spindle ends and spray them liberally with WD40. This stopped the grating noise that was present out of the box. The fan is still audible at a reasonably acceptable background noise and could be easily disconnected if it became annoying. The long term effect of no fan on the hard disk's life would probably be minimal. ... Read More:
