This is my second radio, and there is no comparison with the one that is built into my MP3 player. I'm a great fan of radio, and this is just the ticket for my long commute to work. Its use is simple and self-explanatory, so it won't matter if you loose the instructions. You can pre-set it to 10 stations on FM and 5 stations on AM and it's got an amazing sound quality. The pre-sets work a treat and are simple to change at any time. It's relatively heavy which surprised me. It uses a single ordinary triple A battery which means no charging up over night. All plain straightforward high quality. I ordered on a Thursday evening and it arrived on Saturday morning.
We got this mainly because we live in Tenerife and my wife wants to listen to The Archers without having to sit at the PC!
Got the radio today, followed the simple instructions to connect to our wireless Internet router, and that's it. The Archers came through loud and clear!! Incredibly simple to set up and works as advertised.
I then followed the instructions to be able to play files from Windows Media Player (v11) on my PC. Two minutes later I had Joan Armatrading being streamed wirelessly from my PC to the radio. Fantastic!
Obviously, I've only had it for a day and only used a couple of features, but for now it is a fantastic buy. Incredibly simple to setup and use.
bouhgt one from argos today very good....my robi is paired with my ipod video it was no trouble setting up and worked as the manual said it would.
the features ,,,DAB..FM..REMOTE ,,worked as xpected and it's shortcomings are like any other device of the same type..reception will depend on the signal strength in your area...dab will crackle a bit if you are on the move and fm reception is par with most fm receivers ..the remote works quiet well but don't xpect to b able to xplore all the sub menus on your ipod...yes it seemed a bit xpensive but dab devices generally are!!apparently it's not compatible with the latest ipods so if you have a classic or the latest nanos check first!!
I've only just received the radio so haven't full investigated it yet.
But so far - wow! I thought I'd stumble at the first hurdle i.e. connecting it to my network, but no. The manual's guidance was excellent but hardly necessary really, since it's quite intuitive to set up.
The manual even told me how to create a shared folder on my PC so that I could access my iTunes.
The box looks smart, with no clutter, and most importantly of all it sounds great. Can't wait to get surfing all those radio stations out there...
If you do not want to spend twice as much on Bose, get this unit. Excellent sound and build quality. We only use it for DAB so I cannot comment on other sound sources.
What is miss is direct iPod connection, not just input jack.
And what we do not like? The LCD is too bright during the night, so bright it seems feels like full moon. However, this can be advantage if you need to find way out of the bedroom and back during night.
To any reading these reviews - there was a compatibility problem between the Robi and the Apple iPod Classic and 3G Nano models which appeared when Apple released version 1.1 of the iPod software for these models. Version 1.1.1 did not solve this. Version 1.1.2 released on 30th April 2008 does solve this, and the Robi now no longer turns off after two minutes. Thanks Apple! I can now listen for hours at at time. One minor new problem replaces that old one. If Robi is in DAB or FM mode and you use Robi to switch off your iPod, then you will generally need to use the iPod controls to switch back on again, and it may require a couple of On-Off cycles. No such problem if you switch off with Robi in Remote Control mode.
I note that one reviewer found very poor battery life using Robi on his ... Read More:
I bought this radio for my wife for a Christmas present and I was so impressed with it that I bought one for myself to use in my garden shed whilst pottering about.
When you first switch it on it searches for all the digital radio stations that can be found in your area. You can then assign these stations to one of 5 buttons, pressing another button lets you set another 5 presets making 10 in all - plenty for me. The sound is great - clear and sharp. Separate treble and bass buttons alow you to make the adjustments you need for your own personal ear. The 9.5 x 2cm display has various settings including a streamed display of the current programme. Tuning is by pressing the "up" and "down" buttons to go through the programmes stored on the radio or by a tuning knob.
This is an nifty little DAB radio. We have it in the kitchen and the reception is extremely good on all the major stations (plus a few extra ones I do not really listen to!). It can pick up all of the BBC stations; sport is especially well catered for on all of the Radio 5 stations (crystal clear, without the Medium Wave crackle and pop), 6 Music is a brilliant alternative station for people who are serious about their music.
The sound from such a small radio has a nice tone and it can be turned up to a surprisingly loud volume without distortion. The display panel is limited but still informative e.g. it displays programme title, programme information, "song now playing", news and, if your tuned into sport, it even displays the cricket scores and football results!
For the price, I would highly ... Read More:

As you'd expect from a Roberts radio, the build quality is good and the sound is impressive. Having separate treble and bass controls enhances this. Having the SD card capability is good not only for recording programmes, it also allows you do stick your favourite MP3s on it and play those back if you tire of the DJs chatting through the music.
Alternatively the line-in allows you to connect an external MP3 player.
The EPG facility seems to work fine, and the pause/play is also a nice touch.
Drawbacks:
1)There are only 6 presets on each of FM and DAB, which is probably half of what you'd like to have.
2)By default you retain the blue screen when you use the on/off button, so the set needs to be switched off at the mains to lose this. However, by drilling down through ... Read More:
