Bought this product and even the first time i used it, it wouldnt let me pre-record programs. it's noisy, so much to the extent that i have to switch it off AT THE PLUG before i sleep. Will overheat very easily. it's a cheap product, but honestly, pay a little more for something that will actually work.

bought this from a different company, and they refused to give me a refund or replacement.

£4.5 for P&P on an item that weighed a little over 100g and was sent in a Jiffy bag by second class post! Should have thought before I clicked.

As to the unit itself:-
1) Not very sensitive. I now live near High Wycombe, not I think an area of high signal strength, but hardly out in the sticks. The unit struggles to auto-tune, and if tuned manually reception is hissy. I think I will keep it for listening to the Today program, but only just.

2) Change the batteries and it seems to forget all its pre-sets!

3) The unit detects signal strength and switch to stereo when it is high enough. There is no over-ride of this. Stupidly, the levels at which it switches in and out of stereo seem identical (no hysteresis). ... Read More:

Quite, quite dreadful.

Other reviewers have said that their one of these is unreliable. I don't know. Mine's boxed for resale with 24 hours of my having taken delivery. It works, but I've seen enough to want nothing further to do with it.

Other reviewers have suggested that Top Up TV's content is worthless. Certainly all the listings I've seen don't reveal anything I'd pay to watch. By default this thing will prerecord lots of it for you -- a refinement of Douglas Adams's description in "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" of a VHS VCR as "a machine to watch tedious television for you".

This probably has all the functions and capabilities a PVR needs. I couldn't find them. It doesn't matter whether it has ... Read More:

Obviously there are other devices [Such as the Philips SLV3220/05] doing a similar job to this that can be found Amazon, and around seventy pounds. The reviews for that particular model are mixed, and my review for this product is that it's fabulous!

The description is a bit vague, but this will pick up and DVD Players, a Pace Sky + box and a Freeview box. It can also pick up remote signals, but not that of Sky. On the 'send' box [which would be the box that'd be next to the Sky Box, Freeview Box, DVD etc] there are 2 S-Video [S-Video to Scart leads supplied!] ports for plugging in the device, and another plug to put in the remote control device. Speedtouch 330 ADSL USB Modem

this product is designed, via the use of a USB connection to prevent you using your internet on anything other than your home PC and even then connection is patchy and slow. This "router" does not support ethernet or wireless connection and wastes one of your USB ports. The USB connection merely prevents you from utilising your phone-line to the best of its ability on the PC and resticts you from using your internet anywhere else because of its utter lack of compatibilty. Stay away from this product, there are plenty of better devices on the market.

Thomson SpeedTouch 585i Residential Wireless ADSL Gateway

I've been using this router (not the 585i, just the 580 though) for well over a year now, and it's still going strong. The interface it uses when you want to configure your settings is relatively simple and well designed, and I get a great wireless signal all over my house.

I have my Desktop PC and Laptop connected via Ethernet cable, and my Wii and 2 PSPs connected wirelessly. I'm planning on buying a home plug soon to connect my XBox 360 via ethernet, which should be great!

I highly recommend this router.

Thomson ST585 v7 - 802.11g Wireless Gateway Router with 4 Ethernet Ports

Another good product by Thomson, Speedtouch 576 was another good one. I can still connect my old wireless devices to it, something that I could not do with other new routers.
The only quirk I find with the TG585 is the fact that the wireless speed stays mostly at 11Mbps, that's with just one wireless device connected to it. It rarely goes up to the maximum 54 Mbps that my Netgear wireless adapter supports. 5 stars if it wasn't for this.
But then I guess this does not matter in the UK as broadband speeds are rarely over 6Mbps.
