Roberts RD50 Radio - Green

I have an analogue Roberts in the bathroom, a DAB Evoke Pure1 in my kitchen and have been after an RD50 for the bedroom for sometime. Despite being expensive I have not been disappointed with this radio.

It is so easy to use. Skim through the well laid out manual once and you will be able to operate all its features including PausePlus which lets you record 15 minutes of sound, if you have to attend to something else.

The DAB auto tune takes less than 10 seconds to find and store all of your available digital stations. The 6 part telescopic antenna which is about 20 inches long fully extended, gave me great reception. The LCD provides six different types of information including signal strength. I don't normally write reviews but after looking at the most recent reviews of this product I had to give my very different experience of this product. I have had DAB radios for many years and this Sony DAB radio is the second portable one I have owned. The first was fine but did not have preset stations which was very annoying and is not a problem with this model. I find the reception is excellent. I live and work in central London and use the radio commuting on the bus and occasionally the train. It is very rare for me to lose reception on either mode of transport. I also ride a motorbike and listen whilst on the move and maintain reception whenever it is available. I therefore don't understand people who say it cannot be used on the move. ... Read More:

I am totally sold on digital radio and Roberts products so I bought this one as it was one of the smallest I could find to sit on my bedside table. I love the digital stations, the quality of sound and the ease of presets. I had my previous Sony cube radio alarm for so long that I expected snooze facility to operate in the same way i.e. once set to snooze it would stay on snooze for ever. As an insomniac, this was great for reaching out a hand in the night and pressing one button and it was on to lull me back to sleep. With this new machine I have to reach out and press three buttons and remember the order EVERY time I want to snooze.
