Sony MDRD777LPS Over Head Closed Headphone

I have just recieved these headphones today, so bear in mind that i have still to do a bit of breaking in, but boy these cans are the nuts.

I have a sony nwz-a818 and the sound quality is mindblowing, you can hear everything. Even on records that i have listened for years i am hearing new things.

The treble needs a bit of toeing in on the eq, as it can be a bit harsh at volume, but the mid and bass ranges are great (could be down to needing time to breaking the speakers in)

Appearance wise, they are a bit of bold statement and are not the most discrete of cans but when it sounds this good, who cares :)

Using these with my HTC S730, easy to setup, works well, sound quality is excellent. Buds are comfortable and could wear them all day.

I really liked these earphones. They've lasted me 6 months and I use them every day. The left earphone stopped working in the end but I am going to buy another pair because they're really comfortable and the sound is great.

Sound quality on these is very good. However, further to "ordinary customers" comments, the range is very limited - you have to sit tight on your sofa and remember not to walk to the kitchen or you'll get deafening white noise in your ears! This seems to defeat the object of having them wireless. Our cat has recently chewed through the IR wire and now we only have sound from one earpiece. I have just put an order in for the Thomson equivalent, much longer range so fingers crossed on the quality.

Not sure why they're called 'monitor headphones' because they're great all-rounders for listening to music, tv etc. I'm not audio-savvy to know how they compare to others but the quality sounds great to me and I can't believe they're this cheap.

Very nice retro look and feel but also very comfortable to wear and easily adjusted. Shortish cable attached to the headset for mp3 player use and extension lead & large jack also included.

Note: the 'blue' version that I purchased are very very light blue, probably more like baby blue.

After reading some of the reviews below I felt I needed to add something. You always get what you pay for. And I think with these headphones you actually get more. The sound is astonishing for a portable headphone. It even outranks most bigger and more expensive headphones with the warm, well balanced sound detailing all the nuances of the music. I haven't listened to a better portable headphone yet, and even my B&O headphone (£100), with its crystal clear sound can't match the iGrado. To my ear it sometimes seems have too much bass, but you need to be careful with this judgement, because this is often caused by the poor recording quality of today's music or portable devices and is also in the ear of the beholder. It seems I am some sort of freak. Not only do I have weird open ears that in-ear headphone fall straight out of, they are apparently also set too high on my head. Even on the smallest setting these headphones drop straight off my head when I look down. With the addition of a bendy hair curler and some lace I have fashioned a pad to keep them in place and have to say the sound is great. Feel a bit of a twit though.

Just got these to replace my standard headphones that came with my iPod Touch.

Not being a true audiophile I thought I may not noice much difference but on high bitrate good quality files you really can hear how much clearer they sound.

Be aware that if you feed these headphones with poor quality sources (e.g. MP3 or AAC files below 160kbps which you will find on most music download sites) they will show up the lossy errors in the files and make them sound poor but feed them real lossless files or direct CD they sound wounderful for the price.

Fitting in the ear is also very good. I suffer with old in-ear headphones in that after about 30 minutes they usually cause me massive discomfort from the seating arrangment in my ear. These ... Read More:
