The key thing about these headphones is bass and midrange. Whether it is a dance track or a rock or jazz number, they perform perfectly. It also plays Phillip Glass classical really well, so a good all rounder in terms of music.

Connected to my iPhone, it plays video audio really well, if a little let down with vocal reproduction but then I guess that is affected by video quality etc.

I bought this as a substitute for my standard ipod earphones that came with my 80gb classic ipod. Before I buy them I had a lot of doubts about which earphones should I get. I was really undecided between Sony MDREX32LP and Creative EP630. The creatives had great reviews but the Sony ones were not bad either. Once I had sony headphones before (which I loved), I decided to try the Sony's.I was disappointed...
It's true when they say "extreme bass". In fact, bass was all that I could hear. It's really massive and just blurs the rest of the sonic range. This caused unclarity on the treble an confusion on the mid frequencies. As a result of this extra bass I tried to alter the EQ of the ipod to amplify the treble. I think that is agreed that ... These are great headphones - I bought them after doing some research online and am seriously glad that I chose these. They look great and they're really comfortable. Sound does leak a bit with these when you turn the volume up since they're open headphones, but according to what I read online you get a better sound with open headphones than you do with closed. I would definitely recommend these.

These are the cheapest Shure headphones by a margin and its like buying a Mercedes A class, you can see the badge and the quality, but in your heart of hearts you know its not how a Merc should be. As a step up from mp3 bundled headphones they are great but if you have already tried Sony fontopias and Creatives 630 phones you will not find a great improvement for your extra £30. The sound is low in bass, has good separation, and great mid to treble but so have the other phones I mentioned.

So buy these if you've got the cash for a first upgrade but don't bother if you have already taken that first step.

I am in the process of returning these as, although they are good they have a big drawback.

- Noise isolation swtiched off -

The headphones have good sound quality. The plastic covers on the end of the earphone can be swapped to fit different ears as needed but you only get 1 set of each size so don't loose them. Sound isolation is ok, they do let in about 2/3's of external sound (remember, I have left the switch off so far).

- Noise isolation switched on, after fitting AAA battery I had to provide -

Excellent sound reproduction. Can't see what the problem is with the bass does not sound to much to me. For the price I would say they are a very good choice.

What can I say other than another good effort from Sennheiser. In terms of sound, i preferred them to the HD215 headphones.

The only downside is, like my HD25-1's and HD650's the clamping effect is very hard, and might not be suited to everyone. Build quality is top notch though, and you get one of those handy (not) carrying bag. Out of the sub 50 headphones I have, I've never ever had call to use one of those carrying bags, but you might find one.

Recommended: Oh, absolutely. One of the better Sennheiser's!

I work in Bermuda Triangle. I seriously mean it. The position that attracks most noise at the office. Four loud colleges surround me, a bit far a group of happy inconsiderate junior lot that said they need to talk all the time for high collaboration, next to the toilet, main door, and kitchen. Oh, yeah, just several walk from a meeting room.

Worse yet, my job requires my brain to think.

Just a standard headphone with full volume of loudest Bon Jovi music didn't help... Toughest ear-muff didn't help either. They just either hurt my ear or brought me headache. I have a very sensitive ear, used to be in choir and like music a lot. It was just miserable...

Apple In-Ear Headphones

The cable on my wonderful Sony EX71 earphones broke as I was on my way to the seaside... I went to the nearest town and nearest shop to by the same ones, but they only had EX75 model. And due to the slightly different shape I was concerned if they will fit correctly underneath my motorcycle helmet. So I decided to go for the Apple ones instead as they have very similar and even more attractive shape compared to Sony EX71. Bass is nowhere near as deep and impressive as with the Sony earphones and they kept falling out of my ears regardless of the adapter size... They are a bit louder then the Sony ones, but it seems this is at the expense of overal sound quality and this only makes your ears hurt. The sound is not as crisp and clear as with the Sony ones...
