I bought a reconditioned one from amazon for a very cheap price. I may not have been quite so impressed if I had paid the full price. It works really well it is robust and hard wearing, light and small. I bought a speaker as well and I am very pleased.
The Zen Vision:M entered the market pitted against Apple's enormously popular iPod. I initially opted for the Vision:M as it was slightly cheaper for the same capacity and I didn't want to become dependant on Apple's iTunes software. It was one of the better decisions of my life.
The Zen Vision:M excels at everything it does. It's 2.5" screen displays videos in vibrant and immersive colour while album art is also displayed next to the songs that is playing, something which, while simple, makes the whole experience seem somehow better. A variety of themes is also available allowing you to change the colour scheme and background to your choice.
The best part of the Vision:M however is not the display. It is the sound. ... Read More:

Wanted a small, good quality MP3 player for the commute to work. This ticks all the boxes. It's small, easy to use with no proprietary software required - just plug it in to your PC and drag and drop. If you want you can sync it with Windows Media Player but it's not necessary. Don't know what the supplied headphones are like as I use a pair of Sennheisers and the sound is great. So if you want something small and simple, get one and don't pay the premium for a bigger name brand, it's not worth it. Can't comment on video playback but that's not what I got it for. If I had one gripe it'd be that I'd like a bit more storage, maybe if they did a 4GB version it would be ideal. In the meantime, I'll stick with this.

Have just purchased one of these for my wifes birthday present to replace a Philips one that went pear shaped.
Very good looking little mp3 player, easy to navigate and the supplied software got us up and running in no time.
Early days, but she is well pleased with it.

Bought this iPod as a gift for wife and she loves it - looks great and overall it's a very good mp3 player. Though for me the only reason to buy a 1g (first generation) nano is if you want a black or white one. It's true what they say, you only have to put the 1g down on a normal surface and it's scratched. The 2g nano has a longer life battery and better casing, which they say is less likely to pick up marks. So for me it's a shame there isn't a 2g in white.
If like me you're a windows user it's worth noting you can install the iPod as a drive on your pc but as these are older models, they require an up-date before you can transfer files. After wasting loads of time I found myself having to use the iTunes software. My advice even if you don't ... Read More:
I bought one of these for my wife about 6 months back. She uses it for listening to plays and talking books etc. It works great. Very easy to copy mp3 files to from Windows XP file explorer.
Lasts all night on one charge, my wife suffers from insomnia. Plugs into a USB port to charge.
