I have good news for all those hifi heads who like their music loud. Samsung has actually put a sound limiter option on these so that you can listen to your tracks above the "safe" level, and to me the safe level is way too low on most mp3 players out there. At last I can listen to my favourite tracks now without being frustrated by the lack volume.

The size is great and the dislay clear. The touch screen controls are very sensitive and easy to use. Sound reproduction is sharp and clear, and video crystal smooth.

The FM radio is great but Samsung could have improve upon the recorder which captures music at a low bit rate and is not that clear when played back. Overall an excellent MP3 player which is highly recommended.

One word describes this product - awesome!
I got mine back in December and it is just incredible. OK so 16GB is ridiculously small for most people's music appetites but I have learnt to cope with the capacity by unchecking a load of music in iTunes.

A couple of criticisms come to mind, sync times are very slow in comparison to HDD based iPods (I would say roughly 3/4 transfer speed) that can be annoying when you have to reload all your content again. In addition to this you cannot group compilation artists that result in lots of obscure names whilst scrolling through music (if your a dance music fan). These are quibbles however and don;t detract from how good this device is.

How things change.

I bought this for my wife to use whilst jogging but I she can get her own now. After all these years of thinking I did not need an mp3 player now I have got mine (hers)and I am hooked. Great little thing, as everyone else has said very easy to use and it sounds better than my old tape Walkman which cost £200 in its day and was the dogs danglies. And this can fit more than 10 tracks on it, apparently :D

Another 5 star rating. ipods must be really good for people to keep buying them over this and getting all the headlines. Go figure.

I admit to being a total gadget freak, and I bought this little gem because I spend 3 hours a day on a train. Even with my gadget dedication, I sometimes find the gadgets I buy a little too complicated, and often end up not using them as they should be used. Imagine then, my delight, when I discovered how easy the Archos is to use. I set it up to record programmes I don't have time for in the evenings and watch them on the way to work in the mornings. I've converted DVDs and loaded them onto the Archos, and I took the entire season of Huff with me on holiday - in case of bad weather. I bought this cd player recently and I'm very pleased with it. The sound quality is good and it's easy to use. The only annoying thing I've come across so far is the bleeping every time you press a button, but there are instructions in the manual so you can disable that function. There have been a few criticisms in these reviews of the volume on this model, that it's restrictive and can't be turned loud enough. I've tried playing many different styles of music on my player (including classical), not particularly quietly, without even reaching the halfway mark on the volume control. I don't think it's any different to any of the other models I've owned in that respect, and I certainly don't find that it's a problem or spoils my enjoyment of the music. This is a really great product and now is the time to buy them because they're getting real cheap second hand. The sound quality is good for something so small and it is really easy to use with the click wheel and Itunes is good too. It's really beautiful to look at and it's so slim. But that was it's only flaw for me. It fell out of my pocket when doing shopping. So overall it's fantastic but quite easy to lose.
