life revolves around compramise.
You can have a 20gb iPod and get 1000s of songs on it but you will experience terrible sound and poor apple quality
on the other hand you can have a sony hi-md player. Because it is a sony product it will last until eternity and a day. The sound is 10 times (really) better than any mp3 player even with £100 headphones.
Mini disk players can also record from line in which i find useful for recording from the radio of a movie soundtrack.
Hi-md can do this but they can also sync with a computer using sony's sonic stage ( i use 3.4 but it comes with 3.0 ).
Hi-Md s can also store data and connect to a computer through a usb type b to a cable and is ... Read More:
We found this seller very efficient and true to his word and the item was in very good condition I'd consider purchasing further items from this seller.

I'm going to get to the point with this review, because I can understand the mixed opinions from annoyed and happy people. Lets get the iffy negative's out of the way first. To put it simply, the software included is an absolute joke. The program, named "SonicStage" is Sony's series of painful programs that allow you to transfer data between your PC and Sony device. And believe me, it's not just this product's sofware that's dodgey - it's happened with my previous Sony ATRAC MP3 CD player too. Slow, buggy, and unable to update, it makes you wonder why such a prestige company can let out such software. I concur with previous reviewers too who have had the "omgjbox.exe" error. For the record, this PC is only 3 months old, clean as a whistle and fast, ... Read More:

As you may have seen, I reviewed one of the previous models of the standard MiniDisc that was the first generation. After being extremely impressed with the amazing sound quality, I had to opt for the Hi-MD model so I could record AND transfer my recordings via the original file on my PC, to which I can safely say this is simple and so effective on these range of Hi-MD models.
The other reviewers have probably covered everything you need to know, but their is an unfortunate problem in the long term... Disc Read Errors... Just like the original 'Playstation' from 1994, this device suffers an all too familiar internal warping around the laser head, because their is nothing keeping it cool. This is because the Hi-MD spins at a much faster RPM ... Read More:

stylish, compact and ultra portable, i think this is a definite buy. you are able to download music from the internet or from cds (via hi-fi and computer), and the size and portability is amazing, but with only 14 hours of battery life, it takes a lot of charging.
After years of suffering jumpy, easily scratched CDs, I had to think of either an MP3 or a MD player.. For some reason I couldn't cope with the unreal, untouchable MP3 player and I am now the happy owner of a Sony MZ-N505. It is a versatile player allowing you to shuffle recordings, combine tracks into groups and true to it's interactive Net claim, it specialises in working through your PC to deliver faultless sound quality, important if you are a musician.. The supplied earphones resist every attempt of a manic drummer to dislodge and the USB cable is, for once, long enough to keep in place at your PC without having to slide it out of the workstation every time.. All in all, a professional piece of kit..

I've had my Sony MZ-N510 Blue portable Mini-Disc player/recorder for 5 years and it's still works perfectly since the day I bought it. The sound quality is how you would expect from a well-known brand like Sony, clear and precise. The display is clear and is useful for telling you how much life there is left on the battery that you're using. The sound settings are a nice touch, for adjusting the treble or bass to suit your taste to get the sound that is perfect for you!
There are four different recording modes for songs on the Mini-Discs like Stereo, Mono, LP2 & LP4, however for clear sound quality on all recordings I use stereo when I want to fit more songs on one disc I use LP2 because 1. The sound is stereo and 2.I can double the recording time ... Read More:

If you want a hard drive with 1000s of songs, this isn't for you. It can hold 80 minutes of music, or on low quality 320 minutes of music, which is far below that of hard drive players. The MZN 910 is the top of the line portable MD recorder and I've loved using it. The battery life is absolutely supreme (I've easily got a months worth of listening from the rechargable batter at approx 2 hours a day), the remote control a complete joy to use and the design also very chic.
The MD format is also extremely versatile. You can record using this unit from all types of sound sources, whether they be CD players, computers or even TVs. All you need is an appropriate analogue or optical (digital lead). They also have the ability to record from mics, so recording a live ... Read More:

I bought this product some months ago to enable me to listen to my own mix of music while out and about, and I found this was more than just another Walkman! I found it compatible with SonicStage which I had on my computer, but the real attraction was that I could record in Long Play, which gave me 2 hours and 40 minutes non-stop on 1 disc. By simply connecting 2 CD players into a mixer, then connecting via the line-in on the Walkman, I can play my choice of tracks, back to back with no gaps, for 160 minutes with no audible loss of digital quality, then take it out with me and listen to my own mixes on the bus. The unit is incredibly good for battery life as well. I find that a single AA battery lasts me for several weeks as the unit seems to use very little power to play the ... Read More:
I've had my MD-MT170 for a little over a year and a half and it's served me fine. It innevitably has a few failings, but for my first mini-disc player it's impressed me greatly and made the transition from tapes to digital an easy step.
Battery life is quite good, though I have noticed it deteriorates slightly. this is not a major problem and it is still more than practical even to this day. also if possible I would recomend getting the additional battery pack purely because it's just annoying to suddenly run out of power and have no music all day!
The sound quality is excelent (assuming you have a half decent set of headphones) and is easily comparable to CD quality (one of my fears when reading about MP3 players). However it is a little prone to shocks (having no anti ... Read More:
