Not only is the Sony NW-MS77DR the smallest network walkman ever, it is possibly the most stylish. With 256MB inbuilt and the option to expand by anything up to 1GB with the Memorystick duo you can fit a whole lot of songs to listen to on the move. around 250 when Sony's ATRAC3plus is used, with NO reduction in sound quality! Combined with a battery life that can get you accross the Atlantic from London to New York 6 times without a recharge!! Steve Fosset would only have had to recharge this once (and it only would have taken him 90 mins for a full charge) when completing his round the workd trip! And, at only 54 grams, this is the MP3 player he would have taken to cut down on weight. Ideal for music lovers on the move, anywhere, ... Read More:
I'm so glad I found these reviews. I was getting quite paranoid that, despite taking the greatest of care with it, I had somehow managed to break my MZ-N1, annoingly just outside the warranty date. But it seems to be a recurring theme. And I, too, was unable to buy an extended warranty on it - it really does suggest a problem that was known when the product was released.
To me, the whole point of an MD player is to have a piece of digital equipment that doesnt skip. Unfortunately, the laser and seemingly everything else inside my player has packed in. Having been a superb purchase for around 12 months and 3 weeks, my MZ-N1 stopped recognising discs, started telling me there was a 'read error' and stopped recording accurately. It then ... I've had this particular player for about a week now and tried to get a decent opinion on it before writing a review.
Battery life is hard to evaluate. 56 hours? maybe. i've been using the rechargable battery which came with the player and i'd give it around 20 hours. The charging bay is a really nice touch. nothing horribly complex but extremely useful and has a very sleek design.
The MZ-N707 feels pretty robust, but haven't and hopefully won't test it to much. it doesn't skip at all, which is one of the great wonders of minidisc. its so much smaller than a discman. it's the ideal portable solution. besides, with sony claiming a minidisc takes up to 320 minutes of music, it is the ultimate portable medium. cheap and plentiful ... I bought this product some months ago to enable me to listen to my own mix of music while out and about, and I found this was more than just another Walkman! I found it compatible with SonicStage which I had on my computer, but the real attraction was that I could record in Long Play, which gave me 2 hours and 40 minutes non-stop on 1 disc. By simply connecting 2 CD players into a mixer, then connecting via the line-in on the Walkman, I can play my choice of tracks, back to back with no gaps, for 160 minutes with no audible loss of digital quality, then take it out with me and listen to my own mixes on the bus. The unit is incredibly good for battery life as well. I find that a single AA battery lasts me for several weeks as the unit seems to use very ... Read More:

I bought this primarily for field recording and it does the job pretty much perfectly with my Sony ECM-MS907 stereo mic (which I also highly recommend). The sound quality is excellent, very little noise and good volume level. Unfortunately the software is complete pants..but most of the software supplied with minidisc recorders seem to be this way, so dont let that put you off.

Its the first minidisc i have owned and i think its great. Recording is simple and the sound quality is great even when you do analouge recording, and the feature in which you can fit 4 albums on one disc and you dont really loose sound quality much. I highly recomend this i think its a investment for music fans.
