I bought this product some months ago to enable me to listen to my own mix of music while out and about, and I found this was more than just another Walkman! I found it compatible with SonicStage which I had on my computer, but the real attraction was that I could record in Long Play, which gave me 2 hours and 40 minutes non-stop on 1 disc. By simply connecting 2 CD players into a mixer, then connecting via the line-in on the Walkman, I can play my choice of tracks, back to back with no gaps, for 160 minutes with no audible loss of digital quality, then take it out with me and listen to my own mixes on the bus. The unit is incredibly good for battery life as well. I find that a single AA battery lasts me for several weeks as the unit seems to ... Read More:

I bought this primarily for field recording and it does the job pretty much perfectly with my Sony ECM-MS907 stereo mic (which I also highly recommend). The sound quality is excellent, very little noise and good volume level. Unfortunately the software is complete pants..but most of the software supplied with minidisc recorders seem to be this way, so dont let that put you off.
I've had this particular player for about a week now and tried to get a decent opinion on it before writing a review.
Battery life is hard to evaluate. 56 hours? maybe. i've been using the rechargable battery which came with the player and i'd give it around 20 hours. The charging bay is a really nice touch. nothing horribly complex but extremely useful and has a very sleek design.
The MZ-N707 feels pretty robust, but haven't and hopefully won't test it to much. it doesn't skip at all, which is one of the great wonders of minidisc. its so much smaller than a discman. it's the ideal portable solution. besides, with sony claiming a minidisc takes up to 320 minutes of music, it is the ultimate portable medium. cheap and plentiful storage ... Its the first minidisc i have owned and i think its great. Recording is simple and the sound quality is great even when you do analouge recording, and the feature in which you can fit 4 albums on one disc and you dont really loose sound quality much. I highly recomend this i think its a investment for music fans.
I bought this minidisc player a couple of weeks ago. I have had many CD players but this thing is far superior. I thought I would buy an MD player, get up with the latest technology but i had no idea that MD players were this good. I would have bought 1 years ago otherwise. The sound quality is great and you can fit more than 4 cds onto 1 MD. The digital mega bass is superb as it really emphasises the backround sounds. I would recommend anyone to buy this product. PHAAAT.

I wanted a portable audio device that sounded better than the mp3s I had tried. The Sharp is well built (although I have not dropped it yet) and simple to use. I thought that atrac 3 would sound significantly inferior to cd but using quality Sennheiser headphones I could make out only minor differences. An AA battery lasts forever and the controls are simple. The disadvantages are that the screen is not backlit, there is no remote and recording is done in real time. None of this bothers me much. If you want quantity and small size go for mp3. If you prefer quality try minidisc.

This is an amazing piece of kit. I wrecked my old discman when out jogging last year, so I needed a new one withouth breaking the bank. At first glance the plastic back and single AA battery may not appeal to most, even I was sceptical, but WOW the sound was excellent and the playing time beats even my old top of the range Aiwa with Lithium battery.51 hours of playback on a single cell cant be beat. The record function whips most models on the market.4 albums on one single minidisk is outstanding to say the least. A slight drawback is the fact that it has a plastic back and no Lithium re-chargeable battery, but dont let that stop you. truely a class little number without the big pay price tag. Massive thumbs from me , a serious music fan.

I got this minidisk for xmas and its much better than a cd player. The sonic stage software is a little complicated and tempremental but it does the job. The rechargeable battery is extremely useful and the charging cradle is even useful to keep it in whilst listening at a desk or whatever. For the price they are going at now, i would recommend buying one!If you are a bit lazy and wouldnt be bothered to keep converting music to put on disk then maybe a normal cd player would be better. However it does not take long to transfer the music, not half as long as burning a cd....

I was bought this as a present and was skeptical, but i was pleasantly suprised, particulary at the sound quality which is easily equal to that of a CD.The battery life is also excellent aswell,a full battery usually lasts a couple of weeks with fairly regular use.The best thing is the ability to be able to put up to 8cd's (sometimes even more) on one minidisc, the minidiscs themselves are small, durable, inexpensive and easy to record music onto.I would happily recommend this product to anyone.
