Sound quality seemed pretty good, and I really like the way the controls are set out. Is quite light and portable, battery lasted not tooo badly... Only down side for me was that it could've used a little more "ooomph", more volume please Sony! Rumbling along on a bus it really doesn't quite go loud enough.
Other small niggle is the beep-beep-beep sound when you pause a CD, it becomes dead annoying if youre using a "learn French" CD that you pause every 2 minutes!!!!

The Goodmans GPS285DAB is basically a good portable system. People have complained about the problem with setting the volume. And it does take some practise to get the measure of it. You just keep pressing the button intermitantly untill you get the desired volume. I found this is only a problem when using the remote.
A word of warning, this system claims to have 20 FM (analogue) presets. It doesn't - the FM tuner is completely analogue, no presets. This is slightly annoying if, like me, you bought the sytem intending to use FM untill the DAB signal is fully installed in the area. However, it does have 10 DAB programmable setting. Given the number of DAB stations around this is not alot. But for the price the system is not bad. You can also ... Read More:

This is a superb budget player which I have still yet to get to grips with (so many features). Crisp, clear sound on the CD, excellent bass and actually makes your factory fitted speakers sound ok. Just a few of things that you should be aware of. I fitted mine in a Skoda Fabia (stop the jokes about increasing the value!) What the manual does not tell you is that you MUST switch the red and yellow wires around (the excellent Kenwood website shows you how) or your player loses its memory, same applies with all VW's. The AUX input must be switched on, again the manual is rubbish at describing how, once again go to the Kenwood website and the FAQ section for car radio's (you must also crank up the sound a touch when playing your i-pod for some reason). ...
