This player was bought for the kitchen, so sound quality - within reason - was not a priority. It is sold as a compact model, so as compactness was an issue it was chosen.
The build quality is perfectly good for the money and the range of features fit for purpose. The sound quality is reasonable, if a bit top-heavy and lacking in subtlety. Both CD and cassette playback are OK. The FM tuner is OK, but locally Radio Three is a little weak and it can't receive in stereo without high levels of background noise. It is nice to note that it retains Long Wave, something vanishing from cheaper models of this type.
So why only three stars? It does everything well enough except the one thing it is sold on - space. The player ... Read More:

First thing I did was update the firmware to v01.01.29f - Sandisk user forums will go through the process and enhancements made to the latest version, you won't be disappointed.
Bought a separate set of head phones, in blue to match the player and synced up to media player. Piece of cake.
Radio is good - auto scanned and picked up everything it should, listened for a good 30 mins whilst on a jog and always had good reception.
Music sounded a little flat so changed to the equaliser to my preference and a big improvement.
Easy to charge, not had chance to test the 15hr battery life. I'm also going to be using an old motorola charger when i'm away from a pc. (pebl, u6 and razr should work, amongst ... Read More:

In a nutshell, the sound quality of this MP3 player is very good - In Hifi Terms! Never heard an MP3 player in this price range sound so good. Obviously, get good headphones to experience this (If you have to use the equaliser then your headphones aren't good enough - a basic law of good hifi)
Battery charge problems that have been mentioned by other reviewers are not completely unfounded. I have two of these players, this pink one for my wife and I have a black one. Trying to charge the player by leaving it plugged into my PCs USB port was a painfully slow process and would only charge about a third full. On one occasion, I shut down my PC while charging the player and all it's battery power was instantly drained!
