Sony's CFD-E75 has an appealing oval shape, and a set of features that make it enjoyable to use. My only complaint out of the box is that the nifty color-coordinated remote did not come with batteries.

The problems come when you listen to it. While the "Mega-Bass" button seems to have the intended effect, the amplifiers, the speakers, and the structural integrity of this boom box keep it from booming or from reproducing sound with even a hint of quality. Fuzzy highs. Mushy midrange. Even the bass is weak - quite a disappointment for a Sony "boom box".

The specifications of the power amplifier tell the story: 1 1/2 watts RMS per channel, with 10% THD; and this is only from 100Hz to 10KHz.

This deck rocks. It looks great, acts better, has alot of great features, but it only plays cds' (no mp3's or anything else). It is xm ready as i'm sure you know, but it also supports the mp3-cd changer which is a great addon (i use both seamlessly to this deck's full potential). But now, for the money you can probably find something cheaper. The spectrum analyzers are nice which sony does really well but no-one else seems to bother with anymore. Good control over the sound. It served me well for 3 years until i got fed up with switching CD's for every morning commute. If you don't make many long trips or switch CD's often, grab this deck. A++
