I wouldn't normally write a review but we were so pleased with this I felt I should. Bought this for our daughter for xmas from Allcam through Amazon, having read many of the reviews. Delivery was very prompt, and the quality of the player is good; it's just what we were looking for. Our daughter loves it - would recommend theis player without a doubt.

Despite some of the poor reviews, I purchased this item about a month ago.

The screen is bright and clear with on screen controls for colour, contrast, aspect ratio, TV tuner etc. The TV tuner is pretty good, it picks up the four major channels using the aerial supplied (I cannot get ch5 on my main set) AND it makes a great portable monitor for a camcorder!!

Pretty much everything you could ever need is in the box.

Ever bought something that said you can connect it to 'xxx', use it with 'yyy' but when you looked in the box the required connector wasn't there and reading the manual, it stated 'Optional extra - not supplied' or similar --- Irritating isn't it!.

The picture quality is something I would expect of a cheap player not this one. When you have the darker scenes in the film, it is really hard to make out what is being shown. Also, every single disc that I've watched on this player suddenly stops for no reason at all(and no, it could not be caused by me fiddling with the player during the film, as I was sitting still the whole time and did not even touch the machine) during the film, and does not even resume, I have to go the the DVD menu and find where I left off through scene selection option. The sad excuse that is passed on for the antennae has barely any reception at all, to get a decent image you'd have to buy your own. This player is absolute and utter waste of money. I've got the AC version which is identical except that rather than a slave screen it has 2 players that can be linked using the supplied cable to do the same as the AM version or can show 2 different movies.
Really good picture quality but I found it distorts the picture by stretching it horizontally. I couldn't find anyting in the Setup Menu to adjust this. I had to distort all my Divx movies by 1:1.287 Horz:Vert to get the correct aspect ratio. If using the USB you must use a pend drive that plugs directly into the player, using a cable just doesn't seem to work. Make sure the pen drive doesn't have a prominent light because this will be flashing away on the left side of the screen all through the movie. The speakers are a bit tinny and powerless, ...
